If you could vacation alone for one week, guilt free, what would your itinerary be?

You have a “me” week. No one knows or cares that you’re absent. You can visit any place on the planet Earth in current time.
Constraints are one location per day, but if you change locations, you miss the nightlife that day. You can have 7 days, 0 nights, or 7 days, 7 nights.

I’ll take 7 days/7nights
I’m going to NYC to visit my sister and her family. A different Broadway show each night.
I would go to visit some of my favorite jelles’ houses. I have always loved to see them face-to-face.
Oh wait, we are supposed to be alone….skip the sister thing, keep the Broadway shows :)
I would take seven days and seven nights in Iceland.
I’d probably be on a veranda overlooking a sunny beach with a cool breeze. Probably the Inn on Mt Ada on Catalina Island with lots of books.
I never seem to finish a book. I would love to have a week to start and finish several.
If it’s just a week, and if I don’t have to worry about the time getting there and back, I’d like a short Mediterranean cruise I think. I won’t have to worry about where to eat, and I don’t have to move my luggage to see a new place.
If I have to include travel time I would really like to see Banff. However, I could just drive across the state and be happy spending a few days in St. Augustine (I haven’t had a chance to spend time in that city yet) and a few days at Disney, and be perfectly content.
I’d spend all seven days in Japan and way too much time poring at stuff in convenience stores.
(I’m not very good at being a vacationer, though. I tend to fill my days with places to visit and things to do, and end up limping around at night cos I HAD! to rush to all those places.)
I spent a week in Saipan and would do it again in a heartbeat. I rented a car and a short term apartment and hung around letting serendipity have its way with me.
I was in a restaurant and the speakers were noisy. I asked the waitress (it turned out to be the owner) if I could look at them for a minute. It was a ground problem that I fixed in 15 seconds. She was so happy and asked where I was staying. That night I received an invitation to an evening cruise drinks and food provided. They had space available and most of the customers were Japanese women. l speak a little Japanese and had a fantastic time – everyone did. So much so the cruise owner offered me a job starting immediately if I wanted it. Thanks but I have to get back.
I cruises around and noticed a huge radio station at the top of some rocks. I drove up there and was stopped by a guard. I told him I was interested in radio. Wait here. I’ll get someone. Want a tour? Sure! We crawled around inside the equipment. Hey, Would you like a job? Thanks but I have to get back.
Then I met some people having a cookout on the beach. Are you by yourself.? Come on over. What’s that red stuff you’re chewing? Want to try? Cut this here. The lime goes here…We work at the university. What do you do? Engineer . Hey, would you like a job? Thanks but I need to get back.
Many more things..
I need to get back .
I so enjoyed my trip chauffeuring kids to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico that I would go again without hesitation. I WTGBTP! (A scout thing) Sure my health would prevent me from trekking into the mountains, but just to be there would be enough for me.
I would love to see the Northern Lights so I would have a week in that Ice Hotel in Norway. I would stay up every night and scan the skies.
Unrealistically, I’d love to go to east Africa or to New Guinea to see some of the birds that live there.
More realistically, I could see new birds by going to the western or southern US, and that sounds a bit more my speed.
I would split the time roughly in half. The first half I would spend in north central France, perhaps 100 – 150 km south of Le Havre, mostly just exploring the countryside. (Through my patrilineal lineage, my ancestors were a line of hereditary Norman French Dukes.)
The second half I would spend in northeast Scotland, out in the rocky moors area. Some of my other ancestors came from Scotland, so I would again be tracing my roots. Besides, I have had a burning yen to visit that area ever since I first read Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights . . . and loved it.
Right now I’d just be happy with doing nothing at all for one week, sit on the porch, take in the springy weather, and do no-thing! haha
A beach vacation would be nice as well, with a hot tub in my room and a balcony view, a little stroll on the beach then back to my room to lounge around.
I would try beef ribs from different restaurants. Also I would play D&D 3rd and first edition with the Wizards of the Sword Coast.
I wish I had spent more time in Japan, so this would be the perfect way to get to Tokyo for a few days.
@talljasperman Trust me, GURPS with Steve “Evil Stevie” Jackson would be better. Only problem is that that would mean going to Texas, which I just won’t do. Still, if you want ribs, Texas beats the Seattle area (where WotC is based) hands down.
@syz That’s some serious predator action there. Of course, my little lion kitty took down a squirrel the other day, she was one proud little pussy. lol
I couldn’t believe it, fast as lightening she is.
A spa someplace warm. Where I am catered too day and night. Where I can go hiking a bit, soaking in a lovely warm mud bath. A long body massage that involves lovely scents under a canopy by the ocean while listening to calming music. No phone calls. Cut off from everyone else. Even the news. Just feeling like I am alone in the world. A beautiful one week sabbatical. Just me, nature, some people to pamper me, a lovely wine, comfy bed to sleep in, beach, in the tropics. Man, I so want to be there now. :(
Oh, I didn’t read the constraints. That is no good. I would have to keep packing my bags. That would suck. Oh, unless I am on a ship. It can keep moving to different places without me having to pack and unpack.
