What does, if anything, this day mean to you?

I didn’t know until I read your Q. Maybe I’ll link some information on a Facebook status.
The day means to me that we are still trying to figure out all the intricacies of autism. I also think days like this try to tell others how common something is, gain understanding from the community at large, bring autism people and families together, and to raise money for it.
More than one friend or acquaintance of mine has an autistic child. I think some of the adults around me would be diagnosed with asperger’s if born today. I’m not sure if all
of the labels are good or bad. A little of both I’d say.
No. But I must confess the shirt I am wearing now, which happens to be the shirt I slept in, coincidentally, is a blue shirt.
I thought autism was a puzzle ribbon of primary colors?
I read books and research articles on the subject. But not because today is Autism Awareness Day.
I think it’s a good PR thing. To have a specific day to plan fundraisers and related events.
But I don’t think it’s going to affect people much on an individual basis. It seems kind of meaningless.
@JLeslie it is the ribbon, but what they ask on April 2 is that we light something blue, so you may see buildings lit up blue or blue porch lights.
Doing nothing, not interested,
I think awareness days of any kind really only impacts those with direct experience of a condition. I’m aware of autism, breast cancer, alzhiemers , on and on, but, since I am not effected I don’t spend a lot of time researching these conditions. I’m seeing an endocrinologist this morning for a growth on one of my Adrenal glands, so, it has been Adrenal gland awareness month for me. haha
One of my grand-nephews falls on the autistic spectrum so we are aware of the issues every day. April 2 is just one of the 365 days that we are alert.
Not intentionally. I’m wearing a solid blue shirt with a blue-and-grey-striped sweatshirt and blue jeans.
I slept in blue also and happen to be wearing blue today. I don’t have any blue lightbulbs though. That’s pretty cool to include lighting.
@Coloma I’m a bit of the same. Every day is Autism awareness at my home. As is every day Endocrine ignore day (I do my best to ignore my Graves Disease).
Nothing. Seems like every single day is “awareness day” for something.
I’m aware of it every single day, thank you :p
