The western fence lizard ( blue belly lizard by it’s common name ) carries a protein in its blood that kills the Lyme disease bacterium. Ticks that feed on the lizards absorb the protein in the lizards blood and it kills all Lyme bacterium in the ticks gut so it is no longer infected and no longer able to transmit the disease.
I LOVE my gazillions of lizards here. haha

In 2004, on the island of Flores in Indonesia, a team of Australian and Indonesian researchers discovered the remains of a hobbit-sized human, one that stood no more than a meter tall. Remarkable, these researchers determined that this new species of human lived as recently as 13,000 years ago, shattering the long-held belief that Homo sapiens have had the planet to themselves for the past 25,000 years.

In 1878, 1 billion passenger pigeons were killed.

ibstubro's avatar

Scientists are in the process of making the passenger pigeon non-extinct, but only as a novelty – humans have destroyed so much of the required habitat that the birds can no longer survive in the wild.

Really hope that’s news to you…

@ucme Aye aye, such a classic movie, one of those that is great for all the wrong reasons. I like that grumpy police guy, officer Mooney who refuses to believe anyone about the clowns. All the phones are ringing with emergencies and he just goes, “fuck you guys” and leans back lol.

BIRDS DO NOT HAVE BELLY BUTTONS!!!

ragingloli's avatar

Both male and female members of the Cassowary bird species have penises.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Barnacles have the longest penises for their size than any other animal. I also watched a nova program about an animal who had, like, a 4 ft penis. If forget which animal.

I think it is important for all you men to keep this is mind.

Your question was not actually a question, so it should have ended in a period or an exclamation point.

Ducks have the longest penises of any animal/bird.

Bird belly button research. Yes, birds have belly buttons, there is a cord that attaches to the yolk sac just like a human umbilical cord, however, while visible as nestlings, the scar heals over and fades away as the bird become an adult and does not leave a permanent “belly button.” Source: Cornell lab of ornithology “All about birds” website, Q&A’s

My cats have their very own tree house, an abandoned tree house in a big oak tree here at the ranch. They spend hours in their private club, consorting about top secret pussycat things, bird watching and spying on lizards from their lofty perch. haha
Fascinating Coloma cat facts.
