What does it mean if you burst out crying after you meet someone?

You’re anxious. Emotional. Traumatised. It was a terrible date. You think he was so gorgeous and you’re overwhelmed. You thought he was so awful and you’re overwhelmed. He thinks you’re gorgeous but you think he’s awful and you don’t know how to tell him. It cost you a fortune for a new dress but it went really badly and he looked like Danny DeVito. Really without more information it’s impossible to say.

For the crier: It means you have some issues you should work through before you’re ready to date.

For the date: It means…run!

It means something is wrong. I think you know what was wrong.

Unfortunately, without more info, we don’t.

It either means you are emotionally distraught or just batshit crazy.

Without more information, it would be hard to pinpoint which.

I like to think of myself as a logical dude. I have a college degree and would like to think I am somewhat normal. I see a shrink once a month. I have had a very traumatic past. Seeing someone doesn’t mean that you are broken. But it is pretty helpful. It is just nice to talk to a a person that won’t post your shit on Facebook or judge.

My shrink is pretty good at making me explain why I feel the way I do. That generally helps.

So he didn’t tell you why he was crying after he met you? Maybe he expected something or someone else, and his hopes are dashed. Or maybe he feels safe now that the hostage negotiator convinced you to let him go.

After a date? How about disappointment?

@zenvelo I assumed it was the OP who started crying and she asked us to tell her why because she has no idea what makes her do things.

Means you are moved emotionally.

@janbb that is most likely right, although not evident from what she wrote. And besides, given what she wrote yesterday, I can conceive of her scaring people so much they would cry.

It means you probably should pass up the chance for a second date.

It means something about that person touched something in you that’s huge and probably has almost nothing to do with that person him/herself but instead reminded you of something you need to think about – separately from that person, who is innocent since you just met him/her for the first time.
