I don’t know how many Flutherers are from India or culturally connected to India. What I would say in response to your question (I’m an American, by the way), is that I have generally perceived India as a country that as a matter of national identity has a very high tolerance for the juxtaposition of rich and poor, and that this tolerance is rationalized, in part, through belief in a caste system. It is encouraging to me to hear an Indian voice (forgive me if I’m lumping you in the wrong ethnic group) raising concerns of this nature.

In America, profit generally leads and people follow. An American response would be that building helipads (and any other activity) creates jobs which employ people which allows them to maintain or improve their standard of living. So helipads immediately benefit wealthy interests but also add to the mix of activity that gives individuals the opportunity to make a living.

Regardless, it’s important to articulate these truths (is this the need of the hour, for example), and then bringing this into our understanding of the world, decide what we can do about it. For some people the answer is direct action to solve the problem. For others it might be along the lines of offsetting a tragic, evil, neglectful, selfish action with actions that within an individual’s ability bring more love and compassion into the world. Sort of like turning up good music to overcome bad music.

I have always wanted my own helipad with matching helicopter….....both would be Hot Pink….
