Homeowners: if a movie producer knocked on your door and offered you 3 times the assessed value of your home if she could burn your home in 30 minutes, would you accept the deal?

Yeah, long term renters can relate.

And we have 30 minutes to get out?
That would give us just enough time to get the real important stuff , sure why not?
I would stress for more like 3 hours but as long as the cash was real and there I could live with the 30 minute clause.

Hell yes and actually we have the perfect place here. 10 acre ranch property, big house, beautiful views, perfect for some country, western themed film or a remake of The Waltons. lol
Our house and porch look exactly like the Waltons only upgraded by about 85 years. haha

I quite imagine it would take them considerably longer than 30 minutes just to get the required permits and to get everything (including safety and firefighting crews) set up.

Yeah, sure, why not. It’s just a house.

I would totally do it. I could get 90% of my stuff to the street in 30 minutes. It isn’t like you would actually need to pack. You just need to get your stuff out of the house. And I have never been attached to a dwelling.

yup, 30 min is plenty of time to get the few things of importance out. The rest of the shit can burn.

I would need more than 30 minutes to get my important stuff out so as the question stands, no.
But if you gave me an hour and a couple of friends to help, then yes.

Difficult choice but I’m quite comfortable here so I think I would say no. A house is not a home.

Wow. I thought more jellies would be attached to their homes. There’s no way I could be out of my house in 3 days, let alone 3 hours.

@ibstubro I’m more ambivalent about my house now that I don’t have any family in it. I love it but burning it down could be cathartic too.

Oh hell yes.

My house has appreciated in value since I bought it and it’s about ⅓ paid off.

Don’t take business decisions personally!

A house is a business decision, the people are personal.

This decision would make the people better off in the long run.

If it were just me, I’d say no. But I know my husband would really want to take this deal.

I think we would take the deal.

Then I would use the money to rebuild the exact same house in the exact same spot!

I know. I’m totally cheating.
