How long can a Playstation-2 go without overheating?

I’ve had my Playstation 2 running for about 8 hours now… The problem is that I can’t turn it off because I have no memory card, and I’ve been playing my new game for eight hours. So if I turn it off, I’ll lose all my data (I expect to be getting a new memory card in 3 days or so)
Is this safe? Will my Playstation 2 last that long? What’s the general amount of time these consoles go without overheating or stop working from being left on?

Is it an early model? If not, you should just be able to leave it on. My nephews played theirs pretty constantly without problem.

Don’t worry about it. I have done the same with my old PS2 while playing the Tony Hawk game. I left it on for weeks and it was fine.

good ventilation is the key DONT block the vents. No problem I’d say there’s more chance of a game locking up rather than over heating. Good luck and game on

Oh if you have the newer “thin” PS2, you’re screwed, it doesn’t have any fans, hardly any ventilation, stupid design because they just get insanely hot.

I wouldn’t want to find out, I’d be afraid to own a newer PS2 anyway, I like my big black box, it stays cooler than my laptop!
