Is there a way to return an email unread?
We can return an unopened piece of paper mail to sender marked “Refused”, is there a way to essentially do the same thing with email?
Not to simply delete, but to send the message that the recipient has deliberately refused to read or respond to the missive.
Thank you.

I don’t think so, sorry…other than replaying and saying, “I refuse to read your email.”
But to do that, @yankeetooter, you would have to open it.
No, @canidmajor, I think you can block unwanted email from senders, but that is all.
Some e-mail clients used to have a “bounce to sender” option that was massively abused. It would send a message back that pretty much said “I don’t want this”. Problem was people would use it on spam thinking it would help. But all it managed to do is tell them they have a valid email address which would just make the spam worse.
But if you are looking for a way to tell your grandma to stop sending you racist emails you might need to actually type it up.
Thanks for responses.
Especially thanks, @johnpowell for the “bounce” info. The account I have is an old AOL one, I wonder if I call them they can re-instate that feature. Now that I know such a thing existed, I have a little hope (maybe).
