Did the hospital cause this constant lower back and upper back pain?

Asked by Aster (20028points) May 9th, 2015

When I spent three days in the hospital in February for bleeding ulcers and anemia nurses and doctors would tell me, as I lay on my back, to “life up your pelvis so we can take away this sheet.” I raised my hips up as far as I could about five times.
Now my entire back and sometimes my neck hurt all day long. This has been going on for weeks. Can this be related to lifting my pelvis like some teenager at the gym when I never exercised?

It’s possible. The older and less inactive I become, the more I find that it takes longer to discover and heal from minor injuries.

As experienced as medical teams are, they aren’t always privy to an individual patient’s lifestyle. Had you said, “I can’t” or “It hurts to do that”, they may have taken a different course.

Another thought: You may be suffering from an undiagnosed issue. Osteoporosis comes to mind. There are others. If the pain is consistent and isn’t waning, it may be time to contact your doctor.
