Every evening I walk down to feed the horses and Marwyn ( my goose for those that aren’t familiar with him ) and kitty “Myles” follow along. The walk way off the side of our porch ( in my avatar ) is a little Iris lined gravel path that leads down to the horse barn. Myles hangs out on the cinder block wall above the wash racks and surveys the happenings while Marwyn eats grass and clover down by the paddocks while I feed and clean stalls.
‘Our” routine then includes giving Marywn a drink from the hose and then, our little parade back up the hill.
My favorite time of day just wandering around in nature with the pets and horses.

Sleeping in the dark in the bath tub. No water and blankets and a pillow… I’m here now Fluthering. Also I nuked some chicken and ate it in bed.
Funnel cake from the carnival after mowing for 2½ hours.
A four mile walk interspersed with a pancake breakfast.
I just had a coffee crisp.
Mmmm…I’m about to have a gourmet tuna sandwich with celery, diced dill pickles, red onions, lettuce, tomato slices, deviled eggs and potato salad. Right after this Shock Top ale. lol
Simple pleasures are the best!
I had me one incredibly productive bowel movement.
@Blondesjon Well dude, did you finish ot off with a nice cold beer? loi
Oh no. That’s much to heavy after such a lightening experience. I just kind of basked it the glow of what I made for a while and then flushed.
Wrapping in my blanket, earphones in my ears, reading a book or wandering in my world in a quiet night when everyone is asleep. Heaven!
Schizo kind of question.
What is the simple pleasure of your day.
What was the simple pleasure of your day?
The simple pleasure of my days is showering.
Did I ever mention that I was ignorant of how to shower specifically curtain in the tub into my sophomore year of college? We had a tub.
The simple pleasures of this day were abundant.
I took ½ a car load of clothes and books to a resale shop. If the stuff brings money, great! If not, it’s still gone.”
I bought some stuff at a bargain, and I bought other people stuff I thought they would want at a bargain.
Rainstorm weather here, there were some amazing vistas with storm-clouds juxtaposed with sunny skies. I love the GOD skyscapes where the dark clouds are letting the sun shine in, in beams.
@ibstubro Oh well, slightly off in my wording but clearly understood never the less.
I like on the weekends walking down a couple blocks in the dawning light (6 – 6:30) while listening to The Writers Alamac on my phone, a nice poem to reflect on as I walk. And then I get a latte and walk back, looking at the changing light as the sun rises and the birds start to flitter.
Cool wind coming in through my window. Lying on the bed below that window and feeling the breeze sailing in.
GQ.
Today it was taking a long nap on my husband’s side of the bed.
Almost every day being in the warm sun makes me happy, even if just from the car to the store or work.
Watching my DVR while comfortable and warm.
Soaking in my 104-degree hot tub early at dawn and after sunset.
@ibstubro No worries.
@Pachy Oh my, I used to love that too, going out with coffee to the hot tub at sunrise. Bliss out to the 10th power.
Just laying in bed this morning awake and thinking: “nope, not getting up just yet”
Then having my morning coffee on the back patio before the sun comes up fully.
Mine is right now, grilling my secret seasoned peppers and onions for my killer Chicken “Steak” sandwiches tonight. Oh mama, the smell is so amazing. haha
A whatsapp conversation between me and two really good friends of mine.
Watching the sky.
Stormy here.
I love to see the dark background with a clear sky above almost as much as I like looking into a clear sky while it’s pouring rain!
Hail yes.
The wind is howling, 5–11-15. I love it. Jackets or better tomorrow!
Hail yes!
My simple pleasure today was weather related too.
Lovely 70 degree day with a nice breeze, oh how I wish it would stay this way all summer. haha
Meeting all the new dogs that started one of my training classes today!
It was the last day of the semester today!
I’m normally not out-and-about early, and I seldom eat breakfast.
I had to be at work this morning at 9:00, so I stopped and got a Sonic breakfast burrito (eggs, cheese, onions, tomato and jalapeno peppers in a flour tortilla). Large drink (7–10 only) 99¢. Cheap, delicious, trash meal.
Good thing, too, as as soon as I got there I was hit with the delicious smell of chili dog with onions. Even if home-made, a vegetarian version of that would be a perversion of nature and common sense.
So far my simple pleasure is sipping coffee here on the porch this morning on a cool and slightly cloudy day overlooking the freshly mowed pasture across the yard. Smells so good.
Went on a 4½ mile hike with my walking group followed by a picnic. Got to catch up with some folks.
Laid in bed for two hours after waking up this morning. Reveled in the idea that I have no obligations today. Now that I am working again a day off is especially comforting. Maybe it’s my muscle thing, but total relaxation let’s the pain and discomfort leave my body.
@JLeslie I need to wake up slow and easy too and stretch a lot. Getting older takes the spring out of your morning step. Takes time for all the parts to get lubricated and ready to move.
Remember when you were like 8 years old and you just jumped out of bed running? haha
Softball practice. We have a good bunch of girls this year.
@Coloma I never just bounced out of bed, but it’s different now than when I was a child. When I was a kid I think I wasn’t getting enough sleep at night and I woke up probably in caffeine withdrawal. Not when I was three, but by the time I was 8 it was probably the case.
If I haven’t done anything physical I wake up just fine. It’s using my muscles that makes my muscles hurt. I’m so much better now than 5–10 years ago. I’m never shaky anymore, rarely get a muscle cramp. Drastically better. Yesterday I did Zumba for the first time in 6 months and swam a few laps afterwards. I was happy I just felt I needed a little extra rest in the morning.
I love a slow start to the day, I always have.
I slept for 10½ hours, then I took an hour nap mid-day.
@jonsblond Sounds divine, I need a 10 ½ hour nap too. Scoot over and make room for my pillow and fuzzy blanket. haha
Nearly random thoughts of Eve Arden.
What a hoot she was, and to think she’s been gone 25 years.
A short nap at 10 a.m. since I was awake since 5. Could use some more.
A festival of bird watching from the porch here this morning.
Crows, plovers, blackbirds, sparrows, quail and canada geese in the pasture. An Egret and ducks on the pond, bluebirds, bushtits and pheobes flitting around the trees, robins and scrub jays on the lawn, wrens buzzing around the porch, acorn woodpeckers rapping away in a big pine tree and the resident peacocks wandering up the driveway. Birds, birds, everywhere. haha
@janbb haha, thanks! Don’t try to take a nap over here, the sounds of nature are deafening.
@Coloma WOW, can I come visit? I’m big into birding these days.
My simple pleasure is also bird related. Matt and I discovered an active robin’s nest in the eaves of our neighbor’s house. The eggs should be hatching soon and we have a great view of the nest from our little balcony,
Waking to the sound of rain on the roof, then dozing back off, content.
I’ve had a day off today so enjoyed a bit of whiskey in my cup of tea.
@OpryLeigh Good for you!
My simple pleasure is sitting in the sun drying my hair on a warm, springlike late morning before I am off and running some errands. About 72 degrees, birds singing, clouds drifting by, sublime!
Sketching in a park in Berkeley and then buying myself flowers at Trader Joe’s.
I bought a very pretty dish at the thrift store. I knew the pattern, but the coloration was unfamiliar.
3 sold on eBay: $50, $80, & $80.
I paid $2.
It’s the thrill of the hunt.
It’s going to be driving around in Bilbo Buggins on the next few days which are supposed to be warmer.
So far @9:09 a.m. here in sunny CA. I am still porch sitting with coffee, soaking up the rays on this warm morning. I just relocated a fuzzy caterpillar from the fire pit on the deck and put him or her in the Irises. Wouldn’t you just love to have a Caterpillars birds eye view of an Iris?
My boyfriend sorted out something that has been worrying me for some time now so I don’t have to worry about it anymore!!
I saw a massive owl in my back yard yesterday. I’ve been hearing it at night, but this is the first time I’ve seen it. Time to hunt the binocs up!
Took my little 9 year old friend to see “Jungle Book” today/ We had lunch and then shopped for fun nail polishes before the movie began. Next simple pleasure. Going to bed early, I need some serious sleep, been running on low lately. :-)
@ibstubro Ahh amazing! Did you see what type it was? Was it making a very classic “hoot” or a different sound? The stereotypical owl sound is usually made by the great horned owl, which is large and has ear tufts.
I believe it to be a Great Horned Owl, @Mariah. From my distance, yes, it appeared to have ear tufts, and I hear the traditional owl sound all the time, especially at night. It’s nested close by the house.
We used to have a (flock) bunch of wild turkeys that came around a lot, but they moved on when the neighbors developed part of the bluff behind the house.
My simple pleasure of today was mamma rabbit was on the back patio this morning, checking out the bird food. I’m pretty sure she has babies in the woods beside the house because I saw her when I mushroom hunted, and she wouldn’t budge from under her bush. I was a huge squirrel and made “Tic, tic, tic…” noises with my tongue to put her at ease. lol
Saw this little guy today! This roost is well-known in my area and people have been observing this screech owl here since Thanksgiving. I decided to finally go check him out and was lucky to see him the first time I tried.
@Mariah Awww…I love screech owls, we have the western screech owl here. :-)
My simple pleasure, found a cool little set of summery silverware in a caddy. The handles are crystal turquoise blue and the set was less than $10.00 It will look really cute sitting on a little bamboo cutting board on the counter pr table.
@janbb Rub it in Penguin! haha
I’m currently drinking a glass of milk which I haven’t done in ages!
I went to a place yesterday called “Hot Box Cookies”.
XL cookies that they keep warm in a ‘hot box’.
I had 2, and they were super delicious. Next time I’m going to try the sandwich (2 cookies and choice of icing) or sammie (2 cookies and choice of ice cream).
What flavor cookies goes best with Gooey Butter Frosting?
Sitting down after spending 3.5 hours painting at my new little place. I am now reposing under the ceiling fan here and might just go take a long afternoon bath.
