Are they out to get squeeky?

It appears the corporations are out to give us an object lesson on what happens to those here who complain about the driving habits of auto buying corporate customers.

It did state that a driver was still needed behind the wheel in cases of emergency , and the truck won’t pass a slower vehicle,but in places where the weather is always nice and the roads are fairly straight, I can see companies giving it a try.

I don’t think you will see one of those up here on our mountain highways ,and especially in the winter for some time, but hey ya never know.
And I always thought they are out to get me.LOL

Not sure how I feel about this. They won’t make the idiotic mistakes that humans make, which kills people, but….IDK.

@Dutchess_III that rig might do great in ideal conditions, but what about when conditions are far less than ideal?
Is it going to know to slow down because it is running on black ice?
Is it going to chain itself up?
Or how about fog so thick you can’t see 5feet off the hood?

Hopefully a truck that can do all that will cost about a $billion a rig, so that even the most monetarily-myopic execs will red-light such nonsense. ;-)

You would think it would have traction sensors.
Don’t know about a chain.
It could have radar for the fog.

I think for right now @Brian1946 is probably right the cost of such a rig would be so high even the wealthiest of companies would wait for years or even decades for the cost to come down, before trying one or more on their fleet.

Well the one thing on which we can all agree is that the writing is on the wall. “Progress” would seem to dictate that my big rig worshiping grandson will not have a shot at Squeeks career. I can remember when my horse and mayhem enchanted daughter——by the way, can anyone explain to me this fetish that girls and women have involving horses?——arrived at the perfect career decision. She would grow up to be a big city blacksmith.

Hey @stanleybmanly They will still need people inside these units, but instead of really driving it, the person will be more of a monitor making sure everything is working fine.

And no I can’t explain the horse fetish that most females have,just super glad that Mrs Squeaky wasn’t caught under this spell.

The kid outgrew it. The 40 year old ran out and got a pit bull puppy. It’s exasperating.

It’s the driver’s wage that is the issue.

@ibstubro That is true,and it might backfire on em, meaning the person in the truck might require so much training as to know the truck,it will push the wages for these types of units higher than the average trucker.

Hey @LuckyGuy who was to blame for the accident when the car was in control?
Oh and I read the manual transmissions are making a come back because of public demand,which is good to know.
