Laugh or cry? Mitt Romney and Evander Holyfield in a boxing ring ..?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) May 16th, 2015

Yes, it’s for charity link

At first I thought I was reading The Onion, but it appears to be true. CBS has it.

Is this what failed old politicians do for fun?

I am hoping that Romney gets the shit punched out of him, but knowing the corruption in all things, I expect the actual boxer to lose intentionally, or at the very least hold back to draw out the “fight” to several hours.

Holyfield needs to be careful, he could fracture a hand punching Romney’s hair.

Lmfao: Scrawny-armed, bulging belly politician vs muscular athlete former boxer. I would watch it.

The TV event of the season??? (Anything else on that’s better? Cartoons? Infomercials for kitchen gadgets? How to tell if the neighbor’s dog has a urinary tract infection???)

If Romney had even a shred of credibility left (which is arguable), it’s gone now. And good riddance to it.

I dunno. A million bucks to restore sight to impoverished blind people. Mitt could just pull it out of his chump change bucket and hand it over.

But the fight is a better way to go about it for at least 2 reasons. The first is that it will call a great deal of attention to a worthy though probably neglected cause. The next is that the opportunity to watch a billionaire conservative take a literal beating should generate well in excess of a puny million. There are a lot of liberals who will borrow the money to watch such a rarity.

My hat’s off to Romney for having the ability to laugh at himself. There’s something noble and endearing about a man so privileged willingly submitting to be the butt end of a joke.

Rule of Acquisition #109: “Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack.”
He will gladly give away his dignity, as long as he keeps his money.

^ I swear Tit Romney looks into Holyfield’s shiny head to check out his hair.

“Mitt Romney and Evander Holyfield pretended to throw some light punches for several minutes before Romney’s corner threw in the towel”

Yup, pretty much what I expected.

@ragingloli Nice. Why were they fighting? Did the TV guy say something about female boxers?

Raab had a Conan-style talk show back then, and Halmig was a regular guest. During the show, they had a little sparring match, where the untrained Raab was completely humiliated.
So they had a rematch during a big televised event.

@Blackberry Romney doesn’t have a beer belly. He had a very trim stomach.
I always think it is a good idea when politicians can laugh at themselves.
