How successful do you think would the Marvel Cinematic Universe be, without Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark Performance in the original Iron Man movie?
After all, the Edwart Norton Hulk movie was not a hit, and both the Thor and Captain Colony movie were rather bland in comparison.

Robert Downey Jr and his Iron Man are the only thing keeping it together. He and Scarlett Johansson were the only bright lights in “Age of Ultron”, and even the Black Widow was a bit weak. Without them, the movie would be worse than the mediocre two+ hours it is now.
I think it would probably be fine, but he is a good actor.
Couldn’t say as I’m not into all this Marvel and super hero shit. But I saw Ironman and I loved it, because of Tony Stark.
I love Edward Norton though. Seems to overdo things in his roles a bit, however.
I am a huge Marvel Comics fan and love the Marvel Cinematic Universe — but the MCU would never have gotten off the ground without the first Iron Man movie and RDJ’s performance. All credit to Kevin Feige and their casting directors.
That said, Age of Ultron was a disappointment after the first Avengers movie, Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I’d give it a ‘C’ if I’m being honest.
Frankly, Daredevil on NetFlix is the bees knees.
I agree with @zenvelo I haven’t seen the newest avengers yet, I probably will, maybe, or wait for it on DVD. Tony Stark is the only redeeming character next to Scarlet. He is such an arrogant ass he is a joy to watch and she, well, damn hot if I do say so myself. I used to have her body not so long ago, I love watching her. lol
No change, they would make money regardless.
The original & best “iron’ man needed a heart.
I thought that Iron Man was terrific (not even counting the fact that the guy who designed the Iron Man suit for the movie is a buddy of mine). I also liked the Captain America movies; the second one was better than the first. The Thor movies were all about the dude with his shirt off, and I just want to slap Bruce Banner and tell him to quit whining. Black Widow has promise, but I was really disappointed at her treatment in Ultron. The only constant bright spot in the universe is Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr. No way it would have been as successful without him.
I haven’t been able to get into Daredevil. He seems to me less of a masked vigilante and more of a guy dressing up in a suit who likes to beat the shit out of bad guys. I realize that that’s ultimately what Batman and Arrow are too, but for some reason they seem more superoish than Daredevil. But then again, I’m probably not being fair. I just gave it one episode.
@ragiloli: “bees knees”: antique American phrase meaning “great”.
“Bee’s knees” is an alternate expression for the much better-known, “elephant’s elbows”! ’-p
I’m a big Downey fan and liked him a lot in the first Iron Man film (though not so much in the sequels). Personally, I think he should stay out of huge cast ensemble cast films like the Avengers. He has a big enough personality to carry a film without help from less talented actors.
x-men and spiderman are owned by fox.
@ragingloli I thought it was Sony. Is Sony and Fox the same?
Spider Man = Sony
X-Men = Fox
Guy eating at a Japanese restaurant…“Yummy, these insect legs are the bees knees”
I don’t think it would have worked out as well as it has because I can’t think of another actor who has literally the same sort of scummy arrogant self righteous personality that Tony Stark has in the comics. I have never liked Iron Man, not as a child, not now
