Have you ever held the door open for a stranger when they're too far away?

It’s an amusing experience.

Yup, and some will step it up a hair to get there, others could give a shit.

I would, but then my parents would kill me ~

@Mimishu1995 Why would your parents kill you? I do it all the time. I also tell assholes that don’t hold the door thanks.

My husband used to joke that the prettier the girl the more steps he would hold the door.
If she was real pretty he might hold it 10 steps and she would be a “10 stepper.”
In actuality he’s a gentleman and holds the door for everyone but it was a funny joke.

Yes and when they take their time, I flash a charming smile and they either walk faster or tell me ” thanks, leave it, don’t worry.” I have noticed that most people quicken their pace and appreciate it.

Yes! And then you’re stood there waiting, waiting, waiting for them to get to the door and you wonder “should I let it go?” or “should I keep holding it”. :-)

Yes. And, I don’t get what the big deal about it is.

Honestly, I don’t think I have.

This reminds me of a YouTube channel where they conduct awkward social experiments like this.

Holding Door for People Far Away

JLeslie's avatar

If they are carrying something I do. Or, if they look elderly and frail. I really try not to do it otherwise, even though I’m inclined to want to if I have plenty of time. I don’t like when I’m far from a door and someone holds it open for me. I feel like I have to walk faster, and I don’t want to feel that way.
