Ca anyone tell me, or give me a good reason why they don't put braille on first aid kits?

Asked by AtSeDaEsEpPoAoSnA (1505points) July 17th, 2008

I have never seen one, ever. I’m just wondering if anybody else has seen one before? You would think they are capable of treating themselves. What if there is no one around with sight, not even a fellow friend or aquintance that is blind?

Hmmm, now that’s a good question!

There is one:

”* NEW TALKING FIRST AID KIT

The Talking First Aid Kit from intelligentFirstAid™ is individually labeled with color-coded injury packs so the user has all the supplies and instructions for managing a specific injury. By the press of a button, the audio module attached to each injury card provides step-by-step instructions to manage the wound, pausing and repeating when necessary for accurate response. Each kit includes nine injury-specific packs: Breathing, Bleeding, Shock, Head & Spine, Bone, Eye, Burns, Bite & Stings, and Basics. To learn more, visit http://www.intelligentfirstaid.com.”

Perhaps they don’t want blind people stabbing themselves with needles and such. Don’t want to make matters worse and all that. That is a great question though.

good idea, Marina, but how do they see the color coded packs?

marinelife's avatar

@Seesul I see the link is dead so maybe they don’t. Maybe you can’t get it, but I assumed (and you know how that is) they would be marked with braille as well as color-coded.

Seesul's avatar

Marina; the link isn’t dead, you just have some extra characters there. It should be

It doesn’t appear to have braille, but perhaps it should. It is either for those that can’t read and/or to hear audio instructions while you are working on the injured. It lets you stop and repeat, etc.

@Seesul I must be getting tired. When I first read your post, I thought you meant the link should be dead!! duh!! I need a nap

Seesul's avatar

No, bad choice of words, scamp. I’m the one that’s tired.
As you know I put in the correct lilnk instead. Sorry. Thanks for pointing that out.

scamp's avatar

No, you put it just right, i am just so tired i am dizzy. I’ve been doing a lot of overtime lately. 40 extra hours this week!

asimpletest's avatar

@scamp
Surely that amount of extra time should only be spent on important things like, oh I dunno, fluther.

scamp's avatar

asimpletest , That’s exactly what I am doing… Fluthering from work all day long, haha!!
