What defines you?

Asked by flutherother (34877points) June 11th, 2015

Is it your religion or is it where you live or grew up. Is it someone or something you identify with? Is it family or is it a mixture of things or is it something else entirely?

I think outside observers are required for such an assessment. I’m much too close and involved with the subject for an objective analysis.

Really, it’s the sum of everything. At this present moment I am the result of everything I have experienced in every previous moment of my life.

Lots of things define me and different things depending on the role I’m in at that time. A particular group of elements define who I am as a parent. Some of the same plus or minus elements come together to define me in my work role. A different pattern of elements help define me as a woman and so on. Other elements define me in my role as a citizen.
