Do you think ABC Family should change the title of their channel after airing the raunchy comedy "Knocked Up" a few days ago?

Although the movie has a positive message of a man owning up to his mistakes, I still don’t see how this movie could possibly be enjoyed by the entire family. Maybe the president of the network wants to introduce kids to the feelings of extreme awkwardness at a young age? Who knows.

Good question. My daughter watches the Disney Channel sometimes and they have shows that talk about dating and stuff like that. I feel it’s a little advanced for what I expect from Disney but maybe that’s our society, I don’t know.

I avoided watching “Knocked Up” when it first came out (mostly, I’m embarrassed to admit, because of the title) but loved it when I finally did see the uncut DVD. I now own it and think its raunchiness isn’t only funny but is also necessary to the plot and message—if you’ve seen it uncut and then watched a censored version, you know what I mean. But I too question whether even an edited version should be in ABC Family.

If you change one channel, you would, by right, have to change almost all of them

The Weather Channel doesn’t to much weather any more – mostly features.

TCM has more sitcoms and ½hour shows than they do movies

Logo barely shows any gay/lesbian programming any more – mostly sitcoms

Discover could be the Nazi Aliens channel

And History should be changed to The Speculative Bullshit Channel.

So, you think a movie about an accidental pregnancy, the resulting emotional turmoil and how people handle it, and the message of the guy taking responsibility is not suitable for a family oriented channel?
You know, I think it is very suitable.

The movie is perfectly suitable for teenagers in high school, but an R rated movie isn’t suitable for a channel called “ABC Family” in my opinion. But I’m sure they censor out half the movie, which makes it even stranger why they decided to show it

I haven’t seen the movie, but the show The Secret Life of the American Teenager was on ABC family also if I remember correctly. A show about a teen who gets pregnant and keeps the baby, another girl who sleeps around, and lots of teens deciding whether to have sex or not. I saw an add for the show Baby Daddy, I’m not exactly sure the theme of that one. There is a trend in America among conservatives to make having a baby as a young girl ok and wanting to send the message the men need to take responsibility. I have my mixed feelings about it. I worry it glamorizes having a baby as a teen.

Although, I loved the show Reba. That wasn’t on ABC family originally though.

We won’t even start about MTV…

if it was after the watershed hour, who cares? and guess what? Your tvs have an off button…(or they did the last time I owned one several years ago.)

I’ve seen the movie and it was a dumb movie for no other reason than it was a bad movie.

They should have aired ‘Juno’ instead. A much better movie.

And asking me about American TV is probably a bad idea. I get very angry and turn into a type of TV-Corporation-Hater Hulk. Fox cancelled Firefly. There is no reasoning with people like that.

The “just turn off the TV” argument doesn’t really make any sense in this particular context.
