Which would be worse (details inside)?

Stepping in dog poo, or stepping on gum?
Note: this would be while you were wearing shoes.
However, if you think your answer would be different if you were barefoot, feel free to explain why.
Also, if there is some other disgusting, but common thing that people tend to step in, what is it, and is it worse than the other two things?

Dog shit, it stinks to high heaven & the rage is more acute that the ignorant dog owner couldn’t be arsed to pick up after their pooch.
Dog poo, I have oft been tempted to throw a good shoe away just because I could not bear to clean it. I don’t mind picking up after my dog, but stepping on it, a different story. If the consistency is soft serve, then…......
Dog poo. Such a mess, so smelly. Same as @ZEPHYRA, I’d be tempted to chuck the shoe. Luckily, knock on wood, I have not stepped in it in a long time.
Dog poo. That makes me heave. Ugh… My dogs like to go under the washing line! WHYYYY? I don’t get it. They have a huge, huge yard. They choose under the Hills Hoist. When I find their presents I usually am barefoot. I now keep hotel slippers near the laundry door. Just in case.
I’d also rather not step in gum but poo….yuck.
Dog poo is filled with all sorts of bacteria. Gum is gross, but far less biologically threatening.
Poop, because of the smell.
If slugs smelled, they’d top my list.
Add me to those who say dog poo is worst. Damn near impossible to get completely off, and while cleaning your shoe you have to smell the poo.
And then whatever brush or whatever you use to clean your shoe has to be disposed of, which stinks up your garbage can, or you have to take somewhere else.
God forbid you have to take it in your car to drive somewhere to dump it. Good way to ruin a car.
Gum. With the poop it stinks until it is washed off but then the stink is gone, and the cleaning is pretty easy with water and a rag. Gum on the other hand is a sticky mess that takes more effort to clean off. You have to scrape and pull and it gets stuck in the treads on the bottom of the shoe – just a huge pain.
Dog poo, I’d rather rub gum in my hair than step in dog poo. I can’t even stand to see it. @Earthbound_Misfit what do you do in winter? I’m about ready to buy a tumble dryer but the electricity….
@trailsillustrated, we’ve had a bit of rain this week, but it’s been fairly dry so far this winter and the days are not too cold. I’ve not had to use my tumble dryer for so long. I honestly can’t remember the last time I turned it on. Has it been really wet down there?
