Guess what I'm going to have for lunch today?

Asked by Kardamom (33484points) June 16th, 2015

I’m going out to do some errands and have some lunch. Right now I’m a bit peckish, but I’m not sure what I’m going to get.

You guys guess. I’m not going to check this thread until I get back. What do you think I’ll end up having for lunch?

No clues? Something with pasta in it.

Well, I gave the twins some ham and some Swiss cheese. Savannah had on big girl undies instead of a diaper. She was sitting at the table when I started hearing choking and gagging noises and Savanna is going “POOP! NASSY! POOP!” and then she started gagging some more. I was like, “Oh, you didn’t just crap at the table did you!”
Turns out that wasn’t the problem. The problem was the Swiss cheese. That’s a big NO for that kid. Thought she was going to throw up before she could surrender it all to me.

Are you have a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich?

@Dutchess_III – an example where discretion in your description might have been useful

It wasn’t my description! It was my 2 year old grand daughter’s!

Guys, she’s a vegetarian. I had a Boca bruschetta, tomato basil veggie burger last night. Really good. I’m guessing warm day you went with a salad with a hot fudge sundae.

That fungus stuff you talk about. Quitlacoache?

I ended up having something I don’t normally eat, at least not on a regular basis. I had a big honkin’ batch of onion rings, a chocolate malt, and a burrito. They were from this old style burger place. Not a fast food place like McDonald’s, but more of a 50’s style place. Not a retro, modernized version, but a real old-fashioned burger place. It was good!

Normally I would eat something super healthy, but I was out and about and I had passed this place many times over the years. Today was the day I went inside. Damn good onion rings! The malt was excellent, and the burrito was really good too, as good as any from a Mexican restaurant.

There was way too much food, but I only paid ten bucks for all of that. I had lots of leftovers. If I had known how big the plate of onion rings was, I probably would have only ordered the burrito, but I had some of both and they were both really good.

I’m skipping dinner tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to have some of the homemade chipotle black bean salad I made late last night. I got a whim and made the recipe up on the spot. Gave it a taste and deemed it a winner.

Here’s the recipe: take one can of black beans (rinsed and drained) add one can of Del Monte Diced Tomatoes with Chipotles, add 2 Tablespoons of chopped cilantro, add one large finely chopped shallot , add 1 each of a sweet red, yellow, and orange pepper, chopped (about 2 Tablespoons) like These, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of red wine vinegar. Let sit overnight, to let flavors develop.

By the way, @dxs came the closest to what I normally would have eaten on a regular day.

Woo! That means I get a free meal, right?

By the way, that ^^ was my first ever post from a smart phone!

@dxs How cool! What would you like for your free meal?

@Kardamom I love those smaller colored peppers have tons of them on hand almost all the time, I put them in everything. haha

@Coloma They are good aren’t they? My cousin turned me on to them when she had a summer shishkabob party at her house. She had all of the different meats and vegetables, including those sweet peppers, set out in different containers, in a row. You’d pick up your skewer and go down the line adding whatever you wanted, then at the end there were 3 different marinades to brush on your kabob, then you plopped it down onto one of 3 barbecues she had set up. One of the best parties I’ve ever been to.

We just made shishkebab the other night with organic chicken breast cubes, peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes and yellow squash from the garden in a teriyaki marinade and brown rice. deeelicious!

dxs's avatar

@Kardamom You’re cooking it, right? Then what wouldn’t I like! Quitlacoche
I just made meatloaf but it won’t stay together to form slices.
