I ended up having something I don’t normally eat, at least not on a regular basis. I had a big honkin’ batch of onion rings, a chocolate malt, and a burrito. They were from this old style burger place. Not a fast food place like McDonald’s, but more of a 50’s style place. Not a retro, modernized version, but a real old-fashioned burger place. It was good!
Normally I would eat something super healthy, but I was out and about and I had passed this place many times over the years. Today was the day I went inside. Damn good onion rings! The malt was excellent, and the burrito was really good too, as good as any from a Mexican restaurant.
There was way too much food, but I only paid ten bucks for all of that. I had lots of leftovers. If I had known how big the plate of onion rings was, I probably would have only ordered the burrito, but I had some of both and they were both really good.
I’m skipping dinner tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to have some of the homemade chipotle black bean salad I made late last night. I got a whim and made the recipe up on the spot. Gave it a taste and deemed it a winner.
Here’s the recipe: take one can of black beans (rinsed and drained) add one can of Del Monte Diced Tomatoes with Chipotles, add 2 Tablespoons of chopped cilantro, add one large finely chopped shallot , add 1 each of a sweet red, yellow, and orange pepper, chopped (about 2 Tablespoons) like These, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of red wine vinegar. Let sit overnight, to let flavors develop.
By the way, @dxs came the closest to what I normally would have eaten on a regular day.
