Must see sights for a trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket?

Asked by Jonathan_hodgkins (690points) June 16th, 2015

A friend and I are planning on cycling these two islands on a weekend in July. We have reserved a campsite and are looking to put on some miles, see the islands and enjoy the culture.

Thoughts for must see places or food establishments?

Have you made reservations on the ferry? That can be big problem on weekends. Larsen’s Fish Market for Lobster rolls.

Another for vote for Larsen;s Fish Market on Martha’s Vineyard. As for things to do take in the Edgartown Lighthouse, there are several great beaches.

On Nantucket, try the Brant Point Grill or Bartlett’s Farm (for a great takeout picnic). Don’t forget to grab a bowl of quahog (type of clam) chowder at the Club Car. Like libraries? Go the the Athenium. Coskata-Cotue Wildlife Refuge has 16 miles of trails. Finally, be sure and see the Whaling Museum.
