Does LeBron James prove that there is, in fact an "I" in team?

Asked by josie (30934points) June 16th, 2015

Every coach, every drill instructor etc etc that I ever had eventually uncorked the old axiom “There is no “I” in team.

And I think that phrase has gotten a lot of mileage over the years.

The Cavs are pretty close to winning the NBA with a one man team.

If they do, will we have to stop saying it?

There is no I in teamwork, but there is two Ies in winning.

Heck, yes! Just like there is an “I” in douche-bag.

He scores roughly a third of their points, sometimes more every single game so it’s a fair point. But when they lose to the warriors, maybe he’ll still want a better team.

There is an I in team.. and it’s right in the A hole.

There’s no question that “King James” is dragging the Cavs up & down the tournament courts and rather indisputably earning his money. But he is hardly the first indispensible player on a team. There is one interchange I overheard when I was a kid that I shall never forget. One of the greatest running backs in the history of football back in high school was burning up the statistics on the field. I was standing around with friends one afternoon watching him & the rest of the team at practice, the end of which was marked by the coach ordering laps around the field. Our hero immediately shouted “Fk you coach” and marched straight to the locker room. It was a shocking lesson on reality that I will carry to my grave.

I think so. Everyone is an individual and no one is exactly the same. The inviduality is what creates the “I”. But as part of a team, everyone is responsible to restrain showing the “I” too much and respect each other’s inviduality. That way the team can perform perfectly with everyone having a chance to use their talent.

There is an “I” in a team, but it needs to be put in good use.

Alright, take away the rest of the team, see how he fares.
Lionel Messi proves that there is no “I” in ‘team’.
When the rest of the team sucks, it does not matter how good you are.

Looks like the I was not enough

ESPN would agree with you, even as Curry and Iguodala and the Warriors won, ESPN was having a LeBron fest.

The Dubs victory was sweet.

3 of the cav starters didn’t even shoot 10 shots. They were doomed from jump street.
