If you could have it any way you wanted, wouldn't you rather that the first female President of the United States be sort of hot?

Asked by josie (30934points) June 17th, 2015

Speaking only for myself, I would hold out for a hottie.

Plus, I think it would instantly increase American prestige which has suffered for a while.

Plus, if my CINC were sort of hot, it would make me feel like Sir Lancelot or something, instead of somebody’s nephew. The current front running female is older than my oldest aunt.

Just sayin

Laughs, what are you doing? Sticking your dick out as a lightning rod?

talljasperman's avatar

Hillary Clinton is hot. Those pantsuits with the teeny bopper hairstyle .

@Dutchess_III

I thought I explained that

ragingloli's avatar

No, because as you just demonstrated by reducing the “hot” female down to a fairytale stereotype, all the knuckle draggers would never take her seriously. Better to look like old leatherface Merkel.

ibstubro's avatar

I see no reason why.
Frankly it seems to me that Sarah Palin should make most people once bitten, twice shy.

I’d prefer intelligence and obvious good humor over “hot”. Much like life.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

No, I would want her to be old and fugly but wise and effective. The POTUS is really just a corporate shill anyway so it’s not like it matters. Hell the party does not even really matter anymore either.

ucme's avatar

Ideally, i’d like to enter her oval orifice, so yeah.

dabbler's avatar

You know who’s hot with all her brainpower and charisma is Elizabeth Warren.
Oooo-baby, tell that one about international bankers again… bliss.

stanleybmanly's avatar

I really would trade hot for competent. Palin was relatively easy on the eyes, but a cardboard cut out of her would make a better president than the genuine article.

“Plus, I think it would instantly increase American prestige which has suffered for a while.”

… and this is why non-Americans continue to lose respect for Americans. Because they have no idea that the very things that Americans think make them look strong or intelligent make them look weak and stupid.

ibstubro's avatar

Wow, I didn’t know that @josie was the new American spokesperson, @dappled_leaves. Did I miss the election or is it an appointed position?

And I didn’t know you were now speaking for all non-Americans.

Yuk. just yuk.

cookieman's avatar

Um…no, and please tell me you don’t have any daughters.

jonsblond's avatar

Um, Hillary is hot. for a grandma

you are too funny @josie :)

Nah. All other things being equal, it might have been nice back when I was still watching political speeches instead of reading them the next day (I just can’t stand listening to politicians anymore). But it’s not a reason to hold out. I don’t think it would increase our prestige, either. The Lancelot point is actually kind of interesting. It’s not the sort of attitude I would want to encourage, but I bet you really could rouse more than a few men who might otherwise stay out of it into fighting for Kate Upton if she were president. Still, Thatcher did alright for herself despite never being on the cover of Esquire or Sports Illustrated.

@dappled_leaves

So are you saying we should not only go for not- so-hot, we should avoid hotness altogether in order to gain greater international respect. Got it.
I think.

I’ve been castigating myself for dismissing Carly Fiarina just because she is so damn ugly. There are lots of reasons to dismiss her without stooping to that.

zenvelo's avatar

Hot is in the eye of the beholder. John McCain was smitten by Sarah Palin, hence his big mistake. And I heard lots of men say in 2008 that she was hot. But for the life of me I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near her.

Adagio's avatar

You mean someone like Sarah Palin? Go for it……

Kardamom's avatar

I just want the President to be smart and capable.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

I would like who ever you guys vote in, just NOT be a corporate puppet, and truly care for all your citizens, not just the ones at the top.

wildpotato's avatar

Can you link me to the Fox News piece where you first heard this sentiment, please? Sounds good for a laugh, and I assume that most of this blather you post is fed to you by them or some such conservative idiot tank.

BlackSwanEffect's avatar

I’d just hope she was fit for the job, and not a feminist harpy.

syz's avatar

Do you vote for male candidates based on looks? Pick the “hotties”? No? Then what the fuck does the appearance of a female candidate have to do with anything?

LostInParadise's avatar

No, I would want someone whose appearance would be a non-issue, someone who is neither very attractive or unattractive. I want to be able to focus on what an elected official does, not what they look like.
