Any new tests for Marfan Syndrome in the works?

Asked by talljasperman (21919points) June 18th, 2015

I was checked for Marfan syndrome 20 years ago and it came as inconclusive. With a Mitral value thickening and a heart murmur. When will a new test be made available in Canada?

You’ll need genetic testing.

I think there are genetic tests. I would seek a cardiologist who is familiar with treating Marfan patients I think. Or, a genetics doctor (I’m not sure what to call that speciality) that works with genetic diseases and specifically has worked with Marfan patients. I know very little about that disease, that’s just off the top of my head. I think I can spot that disease when it’s severe by looking at the person, and I know it can affect the heart, but I didn’t know exactly how it does. That’s all I know about it.
