Do you like the Alien franchise?
I think the movies are pretty cool, and although anything resembling a Viking gets my attention, the only reason I ever watched the Alien VS Predator movies was so I could see some xenomorphs.
I usually don’t like science fiction much, but the Alien movies play more like a horror movie to me, especially the first one. I think the aliens themselves are so neat, what they look like and how they work. It kicks ass how their “social” structure was thought up, along how they evolve from those pod things to face hugger to chest buster and then full grown killing machine. A lot of thought went into the xenomorph, so it makes it interesting to see what they do with what they’ve established for it.
Another thing I like is the decors and settings. They really put a lot of work in making space ships filled with equipment and wires and crap, so whenever there’s no xenomorphs around, I have fun looking around at the scenery.
In the first movie, the alien looks really good, only it looks pretty shoddy when it moves, but come one, man made special effects ftw yo.
So anything to say about this franchise? Movies, video games, comics, whatever there is.

Alien was the terminator of its day. I can’t say enough about it.
Yes to Alien and Aliens… but no to the 3rd and 4th films, and to the Alien vs. Predator film, which I found silly and not well thought out nor executed. I haven’t bothered with others for fear of being equally unhappy with them, though I know someone who liked the 4th film, somehow.
Ha yeah, the 4th one is reputed to suck, and it is different, and the least good, but I don’t mind it. The part where everyone is swimming underwater and the xenomorph catches up to that poor girl, I thought was pretty intense.
We’ve talked this over before, so my answer has to be…you know I fuckin do :D
Acid for blood kicks all kinds of arse, end of.
The first is my favorite horror film. Don’t much care for the franchise beyond that.
@ucme Yeah. :D I know they keep getting killed and all, but when you look at the first movie and how the face hugger’s blood almost melts a hole through the ship by melting through several floors of it…by all rights xenomorphs should be nigh unfightible.
I loved the original. I only wish there had been no sequels.

“A perfect defense mechanism, you don’t dare kill it.”
Haha yeah, epic quoting right there. :)
I liked the first film, not so keen on the others.
I quite like the first two. The third has its moments. I haven’t seen the fourth.
Fun fact: Ripley was originally intended to be played by a man and to die at the end of the first film.
I saw the first one as a kid and I was pretty much transfixed by Ripley in a tank top and underpants. Adolescence and everything…
The Alien was pretty cool too.
Never thought any of the others was that good, but I identified with the Space Marines in the second one.
Much hateage for sequels again.
Two & three were fucking good films, four had its moments too.
Yeah, I love 2 and 3, and as I’ve said, number 4 isn’t that bad. As far as sequels go, there has been much worse.
@josie Lol ya, Ripley in her panties, showing her arse crack like a plumber lol.
If I was in the marines i’d be like “how do I get out of this chicken shit outfit?”
Before I read the other answers, I can quickly say I thought Alien and Aliens were brilliant movies and Alien 3 (Aliens 3?) was awful (the “Who do I have to fuck…” line was such an indicator of lazy writing).
There was a fourth? Or is that Promethus?.
Prometheus was well made but it was just a rehash of material from the first two.
@jaytkay There was a fourth, called Alien: Resurrection… and then also Aliens vs Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, and Prometheus.
Oh, I’ve also seen Prometheus, and thought it was mostly horribly done. Where Alien was great for doing the humans pretty well and plausibly, Prometheus has humans doing all sorts of things that make no sense to me at all (they just seem like their writers were broken or at least didn’t have any interest in human nature or continuity or making sense), so I don’t even believe in the humans, let alone the sci fi.
I only love the first alien, and the second is okay but I don’t like any of the other reincarnations.
@Zaku I haven’t seen Prometheus, but it’s supposed to explain the origin on the xenomorphs. Does it?
You’re all gonna die.
The only question is how you check out.
Do you want it on your feet?
Or on your fuckin’ knees… begging?
I ain’t much for begging!
Nobody ever gave me nothing!
So I say fuck that thing!
Let’s fight it!
@Symbeline Well it’s a prequel and it features them, so it gives more… information (or at least stuff to watch involving xenomorphs and humans and so on), but I wouldn’t call it an explanation (not much of one, anyway), since it still hides information (or gives incomplete information) and has disinformation and above all since it doesn’t seem to me to be very believable or to make much sense with what it does show. Some people do like it. I tried but I’m a snob about things making sense to me.
There’s Ridley Scott’s original film and nothing else.
