Where do you like to eat, in the city or town where you live? What do you like to order when you go to that restaurant? How often do you eat there?
Link to the restaurants would be much appreciated.

I have a lot of good restaurants in and around Boston, but my current favorite is Tango
Fresh, homemade Argentine food in a quaint atmosphere. They often have live music and the owner is always at the door. Great guy.
The empanadas are fabulous, but their steaks are the real attraction. My favorite dish is Churrasco a Caballo (a beautiful sirloin with a perfect fried egg on top).
It’s a bit hard as it really depends on what I’m in the mood to eat, and the Seattle area has so many options. To show how many choices we have here, when you say, “I’m in the mood for Chinese.”, you have to narrow it down to a particular province.
Mexican – Gordito’s – Their nachos are great with just the right balance of toppings to chips, their fresh Horchata is not overly sweet, and you can get a baby-sized burrito for $10
Greasy spoon – Beth’s – For me, it’s all about the Triple Bypass omelette; bacon, sausage, ham, and double-=helpings of American and Swiss chesse, served on a bed of all-you-can-eat hash browns. I usually settle on the small (6-egg) but have occasionally put away a 12-egger.
Quick bite – El CamiĆ³n – Their Gorditas are great.
Breakfast – Roxy’s – I mix it up a bit, but it’s all good.
Pizza – Venice Pizza – Sometimes the wife and I are just too tired to go out, but these guys make awesome enough pies that when we sometimes give them a call just because we’re in the mood for pizza. They’re delivery-only, but less than a mile away so the pie gets here fast. (Slightly faster for us since we have a rep for tipping well.)
We like to go to Mado Turkish restaurant fairly often.
If we feel like seafood, Gambaro’s is always a favourite.
Anise is lovely and I enjoy this one.
Chachacha is really good. We haven’t been here for a while. We should make a point of visiting soon.
We quite like the Pineapple Hotel for a no-fuss dining experience.
We also like going to The Glen hotel and the maitre d’ there is really great. Always remembers what wine we like no matter how long it is since we were last there. This is a good one for when we’re going to the cinema and want to grab a bite beforehand.
French Martini is nice if we’re going to the theatre.
Pony has a fabulous view of the river. Lovely to sit outside and eat. We’ve never had a bad experience here but other people have said they’ve been disappointed.
Other than this we like to look at Urbanspoon or Eatability and see what’s getting great reviews. We like to try new places and find new favourites. We’re a bit fickle.
Simple. Frontier Pizza. It’s the only restaurant in the area.
If I can drive the 25 miles to Redding, it would be Famous Dave’s BBQ.
I miss the Bay Area and its remarkable wealth of great places to eat.
For a quick sandwich or soup, I really like Alfalfa and it’s a two minute walk to the Kentucky Theater
I absolutely love po-boys and Windy Corner Market have the best I’ve ever tasted.
Le Deauville is a great French bistro and the mussels are so tasty.
I love going to Clawdaddy’s for the lobster rolls.
Holly Hill Inn has an extensive wine list, and the bourbons are great as well.
My favorite pizza place is Mellow Mushroom, some of the best specialty pizza’s I’ve ever tasted.
My favorite steakhouse is Tony’s, great southern sidedishes too. And the service is exceptional.
Being in Austin, I have no trouble finding two of my favorite foods when I crave them, Mexican and barbecue, but amazingly, I haven’t found a single restaurant for either that totally satisfies me.
When I want a good burger, Mighty Fine (a name I can’t stand!) and Moonies, are my faves and both are within just a few miles of my house. (Of course, when I’m really hankering for a burger, almost anyplace works. Except McD’s!).
But probably my number one favorite restaurant for breakfast or lunch is Jim’s. Best poached eggs and best service in town, and very reasonably priced.
The only ‘restaurant’ we frequent in town that I like is Mexican. I live in the rural Midwest and I’m sure @jerv will back me up when I say most of the food is just shit. We went to arguably ‘the nicest restaurant in town’ about 3 weeks ago and they (again) didn’t have what I ordered, walleye. I ordered catfish instead and they brought me a filet at least an inch thick that was coated in something nearly as brittle as egg shell. The flesh was the consistency of stiff mashed potatoes and only vaguely tasted of fish. The fries were lukewarm and the waitress was so bad the table of 7 left a $5 tip. It was an older friend’s birthday celebration so no one made a fuss.
Twice a month or so I get to eat Indian food. The shrimp tiki masala was delicious, as was the lunch buffet. I always get a fresh naan to go with a take-out order of baba ganoush from The Olive. That paring is just heaven.
@jerv Your listing of Beth’s made me smile. I used to eat there in my stoner days in the seventies. They set out a commercial size roll of aluminum foil for customers to wrap up their own leftovers, and I always had enough leftover omelet for a meal or two. It’s unfortunate that greasy spoons are a dying breed.
I have become quite attached to Pizza Hut and really enjoy their New Tastes menu. Of course the fact that the closest Hut is about half a block away from where I live also helps.
When I’m in the mood for Asian, I head for the New China Buffet and its wide variety of dishes. Two high points for me are the steamed green beans that simply are the best I have had anywhere (even at home) and the ease of building a completely vegetarian meal that satiates hunger for many hours.
I don’t have one favorite. I like going to Lenny’s in Clearwater for breakfast. I’m pretty sure it has been there forever. Reminds me of NY. Typical breakfast fare like omelets, pancakes, eggs done any way you like. Orders of bacon, bagel, lox, 5 different types of toast including pumpernickel, the menu is pretty big.
They take your order and then most meals come with a pastry basket. 5 different types of Danish/sweets and they practically automatically bring you a plastic bag to bring leftover pastries home. To clarify they bring 5,each, so a table of 4 people might have 20 assorted pastries on the table before the main meal comes.
It’s not that it’s the most delicious meal of all time, it’s just that place brings a smile to my face and I enjoy the whole process.
There’s a pizza joint just a short <5 minute walk from my place that sells huge pizza slices (¼ of a decent-sized pizza) for only $2.25. The bread is amazing; it’s hand-tossed.
Tasty Burger is also a pretty cool place. It’s only $4.25 for a ⅓lb hamburger, and I like to get another patty for only $2.50 more.
@dxs: I drive by Tasty Burger near Fenway almost every day. I admit to having stopped quite a few times to partake of a burger or two. Yum.
My favorite restaurant is vegan Vietnamese fusion/raw restaurant in Fountain Valley called Au Lac.
Red Pepper in Shanghai.
It serves one kind of 4 traditional Chinese food system- Sichuan food, the spicy one. And its fantastic.
Many like it, though many international travellers think it may be a little too spicy.
