It means that something has triggered the memory of her. Memories from one’s past never disappear from your brain. I still dream from time to time about people I haven’t seen in 50 years, and when I analyze the dream I usually realize that something good or bad is going on in my present that has caused my subconscious to spit out a vaguely related memory from from earlier times.
When thinking about dreams, don’t focus so much on the dream’s imagery (in this case, a previous crush) but rather on how the visual makes you feel.
You might also search “dreams” in the Fluther searchbar, though for me it doesn’t seem to be working right this minute. Dream questions are asked A LOT.
One dream theory is that we only dream about ourselves. People in our dreams are just representations of different aspects of our personalities. For example if you dream about a bossy friend telling you to talk to someone you like, then the bossy friend represents the part of you that is bossy/assertive and it’s your subconscious telling you to be more like her and go for it. Or if you dream of a gentle friend looking after your sister, it’s your subconscious letting you know that you need to be nice to your sister.
In this situation perhaps your subconscious is telling you that you are ready to start thinking about settling down?
@Stinley, I’ve always been fascinated by dreams and yes, I’ve read and occasionally quoted this “it’s all about me” theory myself, But I’ve always been skeptical that it’s always true. At any rate, dream research has a long way to go.
Dreams are often wish fulfillment, other theories include mentally problem-solving things that are on our mind, and others believe that it’s the mind’s way of making sense of random neurons firing. I wouldn’t read too deeply into it. I still dream about crushes from long ago sometimes. I think it’s pretty common.
