(Here is one of the many videos if you are not familiar with the song.)
Supposedly, he goes into a bar to forget about a woman problem. It seems to me he merely trades it for a money and potentially liver problems.
What does a “Jose Cuervo” cost? How much do you estimate he spent that evening?

At a bar I’m guessing $4.00 a shot? You can tell I haven’t been in a bar in a long time. But I love good tequila. You gave me some bad ideas.
This is almost embarrassing to say but I have never gone to a bar by myself. The few times I went I was “dragged in” by other guys and was being sociable. My drink is, and will likely continue to be, a club soda with a lime.
The whole concept of going to a bar is a different world for me. I just don’t get it.
Should I be embarrassed to admit I was a pub crawler when I was young?
I think you are more the norm. I just never had interest in it. As one of the few sober ones in the room it was obvious to me that alcohol turned guys stupid and women louder, more impulsive and sloppy. Maybe some people find those characteristics attractive but it didn’t work for me.
It also cost (guys) a lot. It seemed they would easily blow $30 – $50 every time they walked in the door. Do that even once a week and you are talking serious money.
I must be too cheap – or a party pooper.
(I learned from my father. Thanks Dad!)
So what does a typical “Round for the whole dang place! ” cost?
In 2015 what does a Tequila cost at a bar? I have no idea.
I must be a cheap date. I’d go out with $10 or $20 bucks and it would last me all night. Although there was the time the bartender brought back my $5 change and I pointed at the bar, meaning just set it there, and she smiled and pocketed it as a tip.
I think it depends on the place. I don’t go out, typically, unless it’s a work function like a conference, and there’s a cash bar. I think a drink can be $10 in this area (different parts of the country will probably have different prices). So a shot may be $10, too, since you’re paying for the liquor and the soda is “free.”
Remember, you have to convert ”$10 or $20 bucks” into today’s dollars.
According to US Social Security website $10 in xxxx year is $yy in 2015
1970 is $62
1980 is $33
1990 is $22
2000 is $19
Let’s assume there were 20 other people in the bar. Let’s also assume the drinks cost $7. That means he blew spent $210 on drinks! And then stared again!!!
I hope women avoid this guy. He has a problem, or two.
