Some conservatives say that atheists are hard to trust, but I think a person who is rooting for the rapture would not really have the best priorities of the nation. What do you think?

What a scary prospect that would be. The environment, income inequality, decaying infrastructure, global war? Bring it on. Eat, drink and be merry for the rapture will soon be upon us.
People vote for stupid (and for that matter, dangerous) politicians all the time. Even nutcases have followers.
The bottom line to me is that politics and religion should not mix. But then you have that tired argument that peoples’ political views are shaped by their religion.
The reason they vote that way is they think that will get them into heaven. It’s like Jehovah Witnesses that argue only 144,000 will be saved, yet there are more than 8 million of them worldwide. Clearly, if there belief is accurate, most aren’t going to make it.
Because they want the same thing.
