Nope.

Pushing all the buttons is a god-given right and every one of us has the ability to act childish or walk up the stairs.

I learned this long ago when I worked in a very tall skyscraper. If you push each button twice rapidly, it won’t go to that floor anymore.

I wouldn’t mind a clear button to clear a single floor. Like push clear and then the lit floor to delete that one stop, and you can do it multiple times. Especially nice if it works in a sabboth elevator and then goes back to stopping on every floor. But, I’m not primarily thinking of the sabbath elevators, more I’m thinking about when I hit the wrong button and want to change it. Deleting multiple hits by children would be another perk.

Deleting everything with one button means you have to ask the elevator again for their floor numbers.

Probably not.
If an asshole gets on and pushes clear and then the floor he wants, his floor would be queued to the front. Even if it meant changing the general direction from assent to descent it could eventually prove life threatening.

I wish I knew of an elevator so I could test @keobooks’ statement.

I’m going to ask my sister to test the twice button thing. I’ve never heard of that.

@ibstubro If you’re on floor 5 and someone pushes 2 before you push 4, the elevator still goes to 4 first on the way down. Also, you can’t change the direction of the elevator from the inside panel if someone has already called (pressed the button) for the elevator on a floor. If no one has called for the elevator on a floor then you are right that clearing all the floors might change the direction of the elevator because total control will be from the buttons inside.

If you were the only user of an elevator descending from a 12 story building and someone got on, cleared the board, and pushed 12, the car would ascend, @JLeslie.

What floor are you on? If you are on three and someone on two had rung for the elevator before you stepped in the elevator the elevator continues going down.

No one has called for the elevator.
You are descending. Someone gets on and clears your floor, then pushes 12. It would ascend to 12, that being the only command it has.

I agree.

In big tall buildings elevators are almost always being called from a floor, already moving in a direction. It’s the big buildings that a kid pushing a lot of buttons would be most annoying.
