Where are the pics on my Samsung phone?

Asked by rojo (24179points) July 21st, 2015

Why is there not a file for Gallery, that contains all the pics on my phone, when I hook it into the computer? The only thing it picks up are the two photos I posted to Instagram last year.

Have you looked for a folder called DCIM? There should be a folder within that folder containing your photos and videos. At least that’s been my experience.

Check both the phones internal memory and the SD card

Tried to check out the DCIM file, now the computer does not acknowledge the phones existence although it is charging it as I type.

If I recall, the DCIM only had two files listed in it and they were the two that were on instagram, so if the phone is not dumping them in the DCIM file, where else would it put them?

There is no SD card in the phone at this time but according to the phone I have 449 photos in the gallery so they have to be in the internal memory.

There IS an icon called Gallery – that’s where all my pics go on my Samsung Galaxy 4. The icon was on the phone when I bought it. It looks like a picture of a daffodil.

In the samsung options you can tell it to appear like a drive to your computer, otherwise your PC thinks the phone is being used as a tethered modem.
