Can I upgrade my phone to Lollipop?

Asked by Strauss (23829points) July 23rd, 2015

I have an Alcatel One Touch 5020T. There is no manufacturer upgrade to Lollipop. Anyone know of a ROM technique that will not totally destroy my data? (It’s currently running on Jellybean.)

Alcatel is one I haven’t heard of before. As each phone maker has their own way of doing things, you can’t really run another build without some serious tweaking. But obscure hardware tends to not get any of those builds. It’s remotely possible that some hobbyist is is working on an Alcatel version of Lollipop, though it wouldn’t be as polished as an officially supported port.

Also, official versions of Lollipop are written for newer phones. That phone is approximately the same vintage as my now deprecated Razr HD, which is considered too old to be worth back-porting a version for.

Lastly, I’m not sure what the hardware requirements for Lollipop are, but if my 1.5GHz dual-core with 1GB RAM and HD screen isn’t getting it as it’s too old, I doubt a 1GHz single-core with half the RAM and a low-res display will get it.

It looks like you’re stuck with Jellybean unless someone at CyanogenMod decides to try porting it.

@elbanditoroso I find that sites with videos about how to complete surveys tend to be rather dubious. Not always, but usually. The fact that the same three people made the same three comments to every article in that blog also increases my suspicion.

@jerv fine with me. I don’t have that phone, so I don’t know. I was just trying to help the OP.
