General Question

My tablet is freezing up frequently. Can you help me figure out why and how to cure it. (Details)

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) July 27th, 2015 from iPhone

It’s a Samsung Galaxy 3 which I bought used (and back to factory specs) and it was working fine until just recently.

I’m hoping to avoid the necessity of wiping it and restoring it back to factory (and presumably losing data stored on the apps I’ve been using, particularly Spotify and a few games).

I’ve deleted a ton of apps to make sure that I’ve got plenty of space even tho when this first started it still had about 3 gigs free space remaining.

That helped a little bit but not much. Now instead of freezing up every 2–3 minutes (that’s NO exaggeration) I can get about five minutes of use before it locks up necessitating a restart.

Any of the Fluther Techies have any advice.

I would give ES Task Manager a try. Please report back what it says your Available Memory is. Memory is different than the 3GB number you reported. That is storage space. Memory is RAM.

Try killing all and Cleaning the Cache. And if you hit the hamburger icon in the upper left and select Task Manager it will show you what applications and services are running.

Maybe some nasty application is using your tablet to mine bitcoins..

I’m not a techie but my new iPad was freezing a lot and my son had me update all my apps and that worked for me.

Oh crap. Now it won’t start at all. It’s just dead. What can I do now?
