How high is the percentage of atheists among stage magicians compared to the general population?
Are there any statistics on that?

I don’t know. I suppose you could look it up, but my guess is that anyone involved in the business of deception or exploiting exploiting human gullibility would be fairly skeptical of hucksters regardless of what they’re pushing. Any carnival barker can be installed in a pulpit and who would know the difference?

Indeed, that’s much how the evangelical movement got its start.
@ragingloli if you can’t find that specific information, I don’t think anyone can.
Magicians, lol. Always pulling out rabbits and doves out of their hats…I’d like to see one pull a tractor out of his ass. beavis and butthead
Let’s not confuse an actual pastor with a tv evangelist though. The tv guys aren’t preachers.. they just play one on tv.
As far as atheist magicians? I don’t know why there would be any more atheists than any other thing. Why would there be? It’s just magic.
It’s what you would expect. The parallels are just too striking with the 2 “professions”. The difference is that magicians cop to the fact that they’re in the business of tricks while the preacher gets by with the mere promise that if you spend a lifetime paying admissions and fees, you’ll get your money’s worth in the “next world”. Now you wanna to talk about selling an illusion?
With that loose of a “parallel” you may as well compare magicians to morticians.
