Are there any decent on-line shopping services still out there?

I use the ShopStyle app.
Nothing spectacular.
But gets the job done.

All web (relatively sizable) web retailers have “scrubbing” software that checks prices both online and in bricks and mortar stores. Consumers are too savvy (scanning barcodes in stores with their smart phones) for much price deviation these days.

I just bought a pair of Asics and I ended up getting them at my local shoe shop while meeting with a sports podiatrist they brought in. I was going to get them no matter what – because the service level was amazing and I was really grateful. But because they gave me 20% off I’ll skip buying online in the future.
I paid way less than I would’ve online with either Road Runner Sports (my usual online running shoe store) or Amazon.

So, it comes down to you to price shop for the minimal price deviation (the web scrubbing software also looks for sales/promotions. So, if Best Buy lowers a price on a Samsung phone you can be sure that Amazon will, too – or vice versa)...or choosing where you spend you money based on something more.

More and more I’m spending my money with the local independent guys. I want them around. Sure, I love getting boxes from Amazon and my UPS guy sees me nearly once a week.. but I prefer to shop local as much as possible.

Actually, I stand corrected. I read in Forbes today that says that Jet.com is undercutting the big guys. (Like Amazon & Walmart) in price. Might be worth a try. (Note: this is not a paid endorsement. I’ve never even tried Jet.com)
