I’ve always figured I couldn’t change the world, but I can make my small corner of it nicer.
It depends on the individual. There’s no one correct answer.
To me personally the goal of life is to do everything worthy while I’m still living.
Well, either that or to get laid a lot.
Biologically, genetically – reproduction.
@syz Well I’m in the ballpark then.
To Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentation of the women.
To make the best of the time you have on this planet. Have some fun, be productive, love a lot, and kick some ass.
I read the question and my immediate thought was “to live the best life I can live, to be productive, to enjoy the journy and to connect with people around me and to try to have a positive influence on their lives”. Since reading @cookieman‘s response, I can see we share a similar philosophy.
To learn to live happily.
To get out of it as quick as possible without sinning to do it.
To love, learn and live (without intentionally hurting anyone/anything).
I don’t know, and i think most people don’t know, either. I guess the more important question should be, why are you asking this? What makes you need a “goal” of life to keep living? Is there something that make you unhappy? And is there any solution to improve that?
At the risk of sounding hokey, the more I think about it, the more it seems that the purpose of life is to maximize love, where I take love in the broadest possible sense. What good is it to accumulate things or knowledge if it can’t be shared? It is not the acquisition that matters as much as the sharing, interaction and communication that make life so worthwhile.
We could all sit here & spout cheesy cliches, there is no “goal of life” not really, just enjoy the fucker without thinking about meaningless shit too much. Just gets in the way.
@wsxwh111 I’ve been wondering for some time, I’ve been wondering how we get from no where to now here without any consent. Why are we living on this planet. I see many people repeating the 9–5 shift everyday and being satisfied with paying bills, but I personally don’t feel like I fit in all this, there a deep void inside of me and I don’t know how to fill it. It gets so overwhelming. I just don’t get why we are put on here..
@LostInParadise beautiful words, but what about the people who never felt loved, how can they start to feel it and share it if they don’t even have it in themselves. It’s very hard to get out the dark hole, especially when people treat you differently based on your appearances.
@ucme Its hard to enjoy when you have to work 40hours, and all these thoughts…
@Inconito101 it really isn’t, your “schoolboy error” is one of overthinking stuff.
@Inconito101 I’ve kinda been there, the confusing, confronting, not fitting in, and sometimes not feel understood or loved. Hope this isn’t offensive but have you ever thought of trying therapy?
@Inconito101 , If we take the maximization of love as the purpose of life, if people are being discriminated against then there is a problem. It is not only those being discriminated against who are missing out but the bigots as well, because they are failing to take advantage of the pleasures of sharing with everyone.
@ucme what do you mean ? I don’t get why i feel like i am the only one going through this, everyone seem happy and i hate the fact that I cant just be content with this life.
@wsxwh111 its so expensive, one day I tried at the university and it was student recording you and I didn’t feel comfortable with that. I don’t know..
I see you are set in your ways, nothing more to say.
meaning I can’t change my ways ? @ucme

Like any type of life, there is no actual goal except death. Life is a fluke, a chance encounter. Consider all of the unused eggs that weren’t fertilized and brought to life. Or the zillions of unused sperm cells. What lives could those have been?
Goal implies an intention, and there is no external intention. But, we’re motivated in our actions by what we think makes us happy, so you could say the “goal” is to be happy.
Yes it’s very expensive, I tried it first in university, too, and student recorded, too, wasn’t comfortable, too.
May I ask which country are you in? Because different religions may vary in the development of psychology and therapy practice.
Its very awkward !! @wsxwh111 did you finish the therapy with the student or quit ?
I live in Canada, city of Montreal
Oh sorry I misunderstood, the therapist I was counselling in school is a therapist, the students are in charge of reception. Well i’m still uncomfortable lol.
It may sounds a little tough but sometimes it may also take a while before one is “able” to build connections with a therapist and thus continue the counselling. I mean I took a while, like two years or so.
But now when i look back, even before i started seeing the therapist, I’m making progress. It’s a process. And you are making progress, too. :)
oh i understand :) Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it and happy the sessions did good for you :) Good day @wsxwh111
