Maybe she should return to the dentist. I’ve had teeth pulled and had minor pain for a day or two. I admit I am good at handling pain, but 3 months seems like there may be something else going on.
Is the area red or inflamed in any way? In any case, a return to the Dentist is in order.
Not continuously but after one of my wisdom teeth was extracted; I had a piece of bone from the area emerge through the gums. And that hurt !
Pulled? Or, was it below the gum line and surgically removed?
It’s probably nerve pain from a primary or accessory nerve. Another possibility (rarer, but more concerning) would be osteomyelitis. Other potential (but rare) oral surgery side effects include Ludwig angina, mediastinitis, hemorrhage, necrotizing fasciitis, and Lemierre syndrome.
They could have missed a piece of the tooth, it happened to my dad once. It could even be infected. I’d go back to the dentist asap.
Thanks, everyone. She continues to go back for other work but the gum still is extremely sensitive and the dentist doesn’t say what could be causing it !
@Aster: She needs to advocate for herself with the dentist. I think sometimes (just my theory), people are not strong enough or may be intimidated when they get the “brush off” from medical practitioners.
She is switching dentists (again) . @jca I agree totally with you. When I ask questions I sense the dentist or doctor dislikes me. Whatever.
@Aster How is your friend and her tooth doing?
