Have you seen this cartoon?

In 2001 (when I was five) or 2002 (when I was six), in England, I watched this anime style cartoon on television.

All I remember is two ape-like creatures with features intermediate between that of nonhuman apes and humans (I assumed them to be the ancestors of humans) swinging by one hand from one tree to the next, while I got the impression they were lovers – perhaps there was narration playing, from which I also got the idea that they were the ancestors of humans, as I can’t remember any audio other than music and possibly the sound of the creatures moving on the branches and through the trees, but I am not sure.

Anyways, I next saw another ape-like creature hooting angrily at the male, and I got the impression that he was banished and became the ancestor of humans, but, again, I cannot remember any audio other than music and possibly the ape hooting quietly, possibly due the music, but, again, I am not sure.

In 2010, when I watched the first episode of Thundercats, I thought that this was simply an extreme misremembering of the early part of the episode involving an adult Lion-o (not involving Monkinian, I know, it sounds strange, but it’s true), but I am just making sure.
