Did you know that God wrote the Constitution?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) September 9th, 2015

All these years I thought it was the Constitutional Convention and the patriots of America history.

But former congressman Tom DeLay wants to rewrite history. Surprised?

Is this proper? Rewriting American history?

It is true!
That is why the 1st amendment reads, and I quote:
“Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death.”

And all these years….. It has been officials in the government, beginning all the way back to those patriots and founding fathers, that have been re-writing the historical record.

I am sure what Mr. Delay said is not what he meant, it is just being taken out of context or misinterpreted, just like many people who call themselves Christians do with the Bible.

Say what?

Doesn’t seem to be out of context:

Something that is moral and ethical does not automatically imply a Biblical origin. There are plenty of moral standards promoted by other religions and even (gasp!) secular and atheist groups! DeLay is a revisionist, at best.

I recently met a man who claimed to know Tom Delay. I said “Tom Delay eats shit sandwiches and howls at the moon.” The man answered “The one you’re referring to can’t be the Tom Delay I know. The one I know doesn’t like bread.”

Never knew that. I always thought it was James Madison and John Jay.
But trying to re write history is nothing out of the ordinary. People are still trying to say that Ambassador Stevens was murdered because of a movie.

@kritiper That one really made me laugh out loud!

Somehow, somewhere, someone got the (erroneous) memo that all moral standards come from gawd.
