What kind of equipment does a typical cop carry around?

I just watched a group of policemen, and noticed they all seemed to be wearing a utility belt. I realize they will be carrying their weapon(s), handcuffs, maybe a pocketknife…what else?
Just curious.

A $10 pot metal throwaway piece with the serial number filed off so they can put it in the hand of any innocent people they blow away.
Gun, handcuffs, Taser (if certified), expandable baton, flashlight, extra clip of ammunition, kevlar vest, radio, and in some jurisdictions, a camera.
@smash’s comment, although mildly humorous, is completely bogus.
What they carry, or what they should be equipped with in order to be able to go home at the end of shift?
Bullet-proof suit covering their ENTIRE body- varied temperature controls and crappy weather sheilds.
365 degree vision. Also include laser abilities to melt those who come up from behind. Or ambush.
X-ray vision- especially to use for buildings and dark or hidden areas.
Psychic abilities to be able to ascertain the intent of those they come into contact with.
Sixth sense to know just what the victim is saying, or not. Also may be used around crime scenes and know who and what the bodies need to tell them about their death or life-ending activities.
Sense of smell control for working with or in situations where extra public care or discovery finds- which would render most people physically ill when exposed.
Compassion enough for all, and a little extra just in case its needed——it’s always needed.
Bionic eyes to visually be able to see just what the hell the weapon being waved around in their general direction is – real/fake, loaded/unloaded, sharp, deadly.
Physical immune protection plus extra physiological antibodies against the HIV, Hepititis, skin lesion/abrasions, etc, etc, etc, contacts they have with ill people.
Shoes that repell human bodily fluids from contact- yet retain highly polished look.
Caffine which has no side-effects when working grueling extra shifts.
Automatic bionic hearing skills for when dealing with the hysterical, angry, frightened, drunk, hurt, abused, beaten, confused, the profane, and those upset due to assault or death of a loved one. Hearing sensitive enough also to pick up on quiet- hidden people, children and animals or the voices of the elderly or ill.
Ability to separate hostages, contested child custody kids, robbery victims, the abused from the abuser, the homeless from the elements- just by squinting their eyes.
Thick skin so they may continue doing their jobs, dispite being treated badly, due to the illegal actions of those whom did not do theirs.
Strength when strong is needed.
Calmness in adversity.
Insight in the confusion.
Humor needed to diffuse.
Patience when harried.
Humility when humbled.
The strength to show up again and attempt to see the positive in everyone, even after dealing with some of the worst.
The knowledge that ALL LIVES MATTER.
Problems: carrying it all at once…
What they really carry with them everywhere:
- Sufficient intelligence to follow orders, but low enough intelligence not to question them.
– Compassion for the property of the rich. Ice-cold reptilian hostility for everyone and everything else.
– Blindness to the crimes of the powerful. Telescopic (and if necessary, delusional) vision for the infractions of the poor and the visibly different.
– Weepy, overwrought emotionalism for a flag or a badge or pretty white girls. Sociopathic indifference for everyone else.
– A strong whip-hand for truncheoning the disobedient or those who are planning disobedience or those who might plan disobedience.
– The ability to take life without compunction, mercy, or hesitation.
– Fierce tribal loyalty extended to anyone with a badge – unless that person threatens the economic and social pyramid which protects the elite privilege of those who wear the badge.
– Silence in the face of oppression. Stentorian bullhorned rage in the cause of oppression.
– Roid-enhanced muscle armouring to protect an infantile emotional core from recognizing the humanity of others.
– Dour, humourless officiousness except when enjoying the schadenfreude of someone else’s pain and suffering.
– The knowledge that nothing matters except the will of the bosses.
Problems: Cellphone cameras, copwatch, and the dauntless courage of the few who refuse to knuckle under to the police state.
You need a nap, grumpy gus.
Cops need a remote detonator in the back of their skulls, so that if a majority of bystanders press a button when they witness another round of police brutality, they can explosively be euthanised on the spot.
