Why does my literacy ability vary according to time?
Some times I can read a normal novel, other times I can barely read a menu. I have a high school diploma. What gives? I have eyeglasses that I have checked every year.

You ask about literacy and say that you’re educated, then you mention your eyeglasses. Could you give us a clarification? Are you asking about your ability to comprehend what you read, or are you asking about physical impediments to focusing on and reading the words?
It sounds as though it isn’t the mechanical aspects that are the problem. It sounds more like a wiring or circuitry problem. Have you tried testing yourself? For example, do you encounter any trouble reading or posting while here at fluther?
@stanleybmanly It comes and goes. I could read your post. But longer ones I have difficulty.
@Love_my_doggie my mind races and I feel anxiety and I stop reading and everything swirls for 15 seconds.
We certainly aren’t the ones to deal with your condition. And you already know that. Why and how do you think we can help?
@talljasperman It sounds as if you’re describing a neurological condition. Have you spoken with a specialist? Please be sure to find someone who’ll take your symptoms seriously and won’t dismiss you as a “crank” or hypochondriac. Sadly, many physicians do just that when presented with a challenge.
@stanleybmanly For understanding why I don’t always respond to posts that are lengthy. I asked a gp and he prescribed luvox and it only worked for about a week before it went back to abnormal. That was 25 years ago.

Please go to the doctor.
This isn’t something to deal with alone.
Tell them of the prior RX.
MRI’s can help pinpoint, not to hurt you.
If DR says Specialist -go!
If RX doesn’t work, get back in there.
Bless your heart. Please go soon.
Good luck.
