I have to say, I like Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and Reanimation albums. The Stencil and grafitti stylings look very interesting.

I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but The Grey Album by Danger Mouse is a good cover/mashup album.

The Grey Video

tinyfaery's avatar

Though I have no idea what they sing, I’ve always like this one.

marinelife's avatar

Hmmm, I thought you meant cover of another’s song.

tinyfaery's avatar

That’s what I thought, but I just followed everyone else. I’m such a follower :)

kevbo's avatar

These are awesome.

Allie's avatar

I think the asker DID mean a song (or album). His example is Wonderwall which was originally performed by Oasis, not Ryan Adams.

El_Cadejo's avatar

GRRR allie stole my answer. So ill go with this.

tinyfaery's avatar

Oh. I thought Wonderwall was the name of one of his albums. There was no way I could know. Who’s Ryan Adams?

susanc's avatar

That album cover tinyfaery showd us is from Derek and the
Dominoes, “Layla”. It’s really Eric Clapton.

whatthefluther's avatar

Hey, not fair…mine is Ryan Adams Wonderwall as well. Every time the Oasis original is played by our local radio station, I phone or text the DJ to give the Adams version a try. They never do, yet It is far superior in my mind. Regarding the cover, Noel Gallagher said in an interview that he saw Adams perform the song in England and that Ryan’s version was much closer to what he intended when he wrote the song and he liked Ryan’s cover very much. Of course there are no other singer/songwriters that can match Adams proficiency, variety, masterful guitar and incredible voice {best heard in his duet with Emmylou Harris in his song “Oh My Sweet Carolina” off the Heartbreaker album, his first as a soloist following the Whiskeytown breakup).

Vanilla Fudge You Keep Me Hangin’ On cover of the Supremes song.

Dungeon’s metal version of Blondie’s Call Me.

whatthefluther's avatar

@aaronou….that would be my second choice! Great Answer coming your way!

aaronou's avatar

Oh, I also must say I like “Simple Man” by Shinedown, originally done by Lynyrd Skynyrd, which is also great.

@whatthefluther – Thanks! I probably love all versions of that song.

whatthefluther's avatar

OK, 3rd choice: The Killers cover of Joy Division’s “Shadowplay”

wildflower's avatar

Another good one:
Alien Ant Farm – Smooth criminal

whatthefluther's avatar

My 4th and final choice (hey, no cheering): Pearl Jam’s cover of J. Frank Wilson’s “Last Kiss”

whatthefluther's avatar

My 5th (due to popular demand): Smashing Pumpkins cover of Fleetwood Mac’s (Stevie Nicks) “Landslide”

loser's avatar

I really gotta say mine is Grace Jones singing What I Did For Love. It is SO BAD that it always makes me laugh.

Sorry Grace…

poofandmook's avatar

I’m pretty partial to Alanis Morrisette’s cover of Seal’s “Crazy.” Also, Apocalyptica is a group of four cellos who cover hard rock/heavy metal bands, and they do a lot of Metallica stuff. Very cool. Oh, I almost forgot the 10,000 Maniacs cover of Patti Smith’s “Because The Night”.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

Letters to Cleo covering Cheap Trick’s “I Want You to Want Me”

tupara's avatar

I like another version of Wonderwall remade beautifully by Cat Power.

And Allie said my other favorite- Mad World by Gary Jules. It’s one of my favorite videos.

Knotmyday's avatar

What a Wonderful World, Joey Ramone.

susanc's avatar

Okay so I don’t even know if Prince ever recorded it, though
I assume so, but:
Sinead O’Connor “Nothing Compares/ToYou”

AstroChuck's avatar

Earth, Wind & Fire’s excellent cover of the Beatles song Got To Get You Into My Life.

molly's avatar

i saw a few people mentioned johnny cash’s cover of nine inch nails’ hurt, which i actually don’t enjoy that much. i am a fan of cash, but a much bigger fan of nin, so maybe this is why.

poofandmook's avatar

@molly: That’s like when Tom Petty said that Johnny Cash’s cover of Learning to Fly was 10 times better than his own, I was like, “Huh?” because I’m such a huge Tom Petty fan… yet everyone raves about the cover. Eh. lol

El_Cadejo's avatar

@molly im a huge NIN fan as well. I just think cash’s cover was good because when he sung it i felt it took on a whole other meaning than when reznor sung the same song. So i tend to look at them as two different songs all together.

tinyfaery's avatar

I second uber.

eambos's avatar

I have to change my answer, but I am not sure to what it should be. I misread and thought you meant album art or album cover, not cover song. Sometimes I don’t thnk rungs through:p

syz's avatar

Yea, more NIN fans!!

molly's avatar

uberbatman, i must agree, actually. although i don’t musically like the song as much, i think it did take on a different meaning for cash, especially after i saw the video for the cover.

90s_kid's avatar

well im not saying a 90S song for once but…I like hurt- johnny cash
second song i ever learned on the guitar

anyways- 90S cover——whatta bout faith evans and Pdiddy who covered police’s “every breath you take”? I like how he added rap

eambos's avatar

Removed by Me, for stupidity.

90s_kid's avatar

i know i know but johnny cash sang it better…plus…NIN made it for cash

molly's avatar
