Finally, another country spending money on international expenditures…better for the US-?

Since they are bombing areas and groups we weren’t, I don’t see how it affects our expenditures.
Well, it will mean we need to give more money to those groups they are bombing that we are supporting.
The US hadn’t really intended to spend any money in Syria until it absolutely had to, and now we don’t have to. So that’s a long term plus.
I also think that having Russia in the middle east is not necessarily a bad thing. The US has been the policeman there for a while, with mixed success – even minimal success. So having Russia take over some of it, isn’t bad. Let the terrorists bomb Moscow.
I also believe that Obama is probably correct when he said that Russia isn’t making the smartest move here/ They’re more than likely to find it just as difficult to get out of Syria as the US did getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Putin may be making some short term victories, but it could well be a long term mess.
I don’t see where Russia will get bogged down. They aren’t using ground troops but rather air support. They really don’t give a rats ass if the government is run by a brutal dictator but only that it will cooperate with Putin. If Russia can gain control over Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia they will be able to price fix oil across the globe. That should bolster Russia’s economy and hurt ours. All this sounds like a win for Russia and I see very little down side for them.
Almost certainly not. Countering the perceived goals of the Russians is just another reason to flush additional money down a new toilet in the landscape of money sucking toilets. Treasure sucking toilets is just one of the apt definitions for our adventures in the region. The United States should recognize that the region we’ve screwed up is tantamount to Russia’s Central America. Why shouldn’t Putin of all people expect the bolstering of a ruthless authoritarian strongman to be the most effective method of restoring stability in Syria? Try to find a single example of a democratic result ANYWHERE in the region since GW popped the lid off the pressure cooker.
What is WRONG with you people. Russia or nobody else is going to gain control over Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia. THAT is the STUPID mistake we made, all of the European powers including the Russians have made, and from which no one seems capable of learning the blatantly obvious lesson. It’s astonishing!
