Beautiful
In spite of global warming
In spite of the global warming
All over the map and typical for the Midwest this time of year.
Cool. October. Thinking of fire places.
@josie Global “warming” leaves a lot of people confused, that’s why they’ve changed it to “climate change.”
@Dutchess_III
Less confusing than global warming?
Climate change is sort of like ” duh- no shit. It changes”
At least global warming has a suitable negative connotation. Heat, thirst, dust, polar bears drowning etc.
God is punishing us for cutting too many trees and throw rubbish discriminatingly by pouring down water non-stop.
67 degrees Fahrenheit, 87% humidity. No wind.
Tomorrow it’ll hit 86 F. Yay, autumn. Or something.
72 degrees. Clear skies. Mild breeze from the ocean
63 degrees Fahrenheit, cloudless, and pleasant. I’ve got my window open and I can still hear the frogs and katydids. I’ll be sleeping with my window open tonight.
High pressure over the North west is gonna give us light winds accompanied by temps in the low 70s.
Hot, like it’s mostly been for the last 6 years now : (
Around 65º and no clouds. I have a light button down shirt on and my window is open.
But I always keep my window open even when it is 30º outside. I like the fresh air. And if it is bad I can get under the blankets and watch some TV and everything is great.
It’s 62 degrees, cooler. Rain stopped, just cloudy. Ugly orange lights of city reflecting off of clouds.
Dark, with continued dark until early morning.
Right now it’s a cool 53º, and tomorrow’s high will be 85. No wind. My favorite time of year.
Uh-oh.
Sorry.
Orange is a pretty color.
Like, uhm, oranges.
And city lights.
Oh, and sherbet.
And….well yeah.
Reflections off of clouds bringing a cold front to my doorstep.
It’s Fall.
I need a hammer…
Sorry, it felt like I was writing a mutant haiku or something.
Hey wsxwh111!!!
What’s it like at your locale??????
Dawn, 52 degrees and clear skies. It promises to be a beautiful autumn day.
lol @msh
65 degrees, sunny, windy but not too much,
I asked at 10:00, now it’s 17:00, sunset makes leaves outside of my window golden. Bright autumn.
5:00 AM here. Dark, pitch black actually. It is an “unseasonably warm” 59F, 15C. The ground is wet from a light rain that must have passed though earlier..
I’m going back to bed.
It’s night now, and the temp is warm (72F, 22C). It’s been hot(ish) the last few days (around high 70s/80s) with storms in the afternoon. I love a good storm.
Unusually warm most of last week and the whole 3 day weekend. It was close to 80 yesterday, and nice and dry. I heard a few months ago (Farmers’ Almanac?) that it was going to be an unusually warm fall, and that has been correct so far. It’s going to start getting chilly soon. Leaves on the trees have not really changed much yet, and have not fallen too much yet. Usually by this time of year, they’re all colors and the yard is blanketed with them.
Low 80’s during the day, high 60’s at night. Mostly clear, with a little bit of cloud cover and rain the last week. We are leaving our season of daily midday thunderstorms and moving towards dryer days. There has been a very slight breeze the last few days also.
This week I’m traveling north, first to Memphis for what looks to be very nice weather in the 70’s during the day, and then up to the Midwest cold.
Still pretty warm (low to mid-90s midday) but cooler at night (high 60s) and in early morning. Fall’s around the corner… I can smell it.
Right Now.
8:00 a.m.
50° current, projected high 68°
Sunny
Much the same predicted the rest of the week. The best of the best Midwestern fall weather. This weekend is the culmination of 3 massive fall festivals in this area, and the weather promises to be ideal, as long as we get that sprinkle Thursday evening.
Quite turbulent.
There is a class 2 ion storm outside.
Bright and sunny and it’s going to be 90 degrees later. Fall is a joke sometimes in California.
77F/25C, sunny, and no breeze or wind. It’s really quite lovely. Autumn arrives, in a slow and pleasant manner, here in D.C.
@josie you said, At least global warming has a suitable negative connotation. Heat, thirst, dust, polar bears drowning etc.
It can also account for increased rainfall and floods. Also rising sea levels rising, which will impact the coastal cities.
It’s very simplistic to assume the whole earth will be come one, giant, ball of hot and all the same temperatures. There will still be weather variations, but they will be extreme.
Besides, it’s non-issue, really. We have to find alternatives to fossil fuels one way or another, whether it’s responsible for global warming or not.
It’s a clear, cold night.. Currently 8 degrees C
It’s a beautiful morning. It’s 6.30 am. The sky is clear and blue and the birds are singing. The temperature, is 17/62. So cool at the moment.
Absolutely perfect weather for the last 6 weeks. Perfect. No wind, about 68–75 degrees.
11:00am
53°f, clear and sunny. Light frost predicted tonight.
This is the weekend of our autumn festivals and the trees promise to be a spectacular sight.
Perfect again today. About 80, but a bit windy.
It’s a beautiful day. Sunny, warm and glorious.
All these beautiful days during, a time when it usually gets cold most of the time, could be another sign of global warming @josie. Individually it can be nice, but in other places it can be devastating, especially is it’s sustained year after year.
It’s been an unusually warm October, with most days in the 70’s and low 80’s so far. We’ve had a few chilly days, but relatively few and far between. They say this weekend it’s going to get chilly and that’s the end of the warm weather. What sucks is knowing it will be cold until around at least April, which is so far away.
Friday the 13th of Nov. here.
Sunny and nice, warming into the 60’s but a cold storm coming in tomorrow night with temps dropping to 34 for the low. Almost snow, but not quite, damn. haha
11/14/15 6:30 PM MST:
We had some snow Wednesday (11/10), and it’s mostly gone now.
Pitch dark, 52°, clear and calm. Forecast calls for sun tomorrow, snow Monday.
11–14 here as well, with rain and fog hovering over the hills. A perfect day to stay in and do nothing.
Well, it finally feels like fall! Nice and cool and crisp.
6–8” of snow overnight, sidewalks melted clear by nightfall.
Crazy wild storm here this morning, go El Nino!
Power was out for awhile, raging winds, driving rain, eerie fog and lots of things going bump in the night. haha
12/10/15 We’re expecting that same storm to dump some snow on us sometime tomorrow. But right now we’re warming up to an anticipated high of 60° F (16° C) or higher today.
We had a storm last night and lost power for about 7 hours. This morning the power is back and it feels like we’re going to get another hot day. The cicadas are singing and the temperature is already rising. Jasper has positioned himself on the ironing board so as to best catch any passing breeze.
As I read somewhere earlier this week,:
We are having a wonderful Spring this Winter.
Clear and cold and frosty mornings here after a pretty good storm over the weekend.
It is unusually mild here for the time of year and is due to get even warmer by the weekend. Records might even be broken.
still no snow, due to global warming.
thanks, “america”
We’ve had unseasonally hot weather for this time of the year. We’ve already broken temperature records for December. Adelaide is currently in the middle of a heatwave. They’ve never had such sustained hot temps since recording began in the 1870s.
Annoyingly warm, and wet.
I want snow. All that rain could be snow!
If you want snow, come to Colorado. I’m not talking only about the ski areas. We’re just east of Denver and got 12 inches out our back door on Tuesday. We’ve had freezing temps since then, so it’s still here.
In the 50’s, clear and sunny.
Unseasonable for the Midwest to say the least. We’ve had a couple of dandy rainstorms lately that would have put us up to our necks in snow.
More rain and snow on the way here. Lows in the low to mid-30’s and highs in the 40’s. I was out late last night and it took forever for my defrosters to defrost my back windshield. I had my cars heat on 90 all the way home. haha
Frost. Yeah, we’ve had that once this year here in the sunny Midwest, @Coloma! ~
We feel your pain. ;-)
currently 6 degrees, at night, and forecast predicts temperatures no lower than 7 degrees during the day, and no sub zero temperatures until next year.
And no snow in sight.
@ragingloli still no snow, due to global warming.
thanks, “america”
It’s also part of the El Niño cycle… but that could be a completely different conversation!
@Yetanotheruser
“got 12 inches out our back door on Tuesday. We’ve had freezing temps since then,”
Thanks Obama.
(and I think it was real mature of me, for a change, not to make any crude references to getting 12” in your back door on Tuesday)
@rojo LOL
Chilly and sunny here after a few days of torrential rain. More rain tonight and tomorrow then Xmas will be sunny and chilly in these here hills.
It’s Christmas Eve at 6.48am and it looks a little overcast. We had rain last night. The birds are obviously very happy this morning. Lots of chirping going on out there. When I left to go and do my final grocery shop before the big day, my African Tulip tree was filled with sulphur-crested cockatoos. We’ve been getting record temperatures, so I’m hoping tomorrow will actually be a bit cooler.
We had a smorgasbord this afternoon:
Clear an light wind.
Overcast and strong wind.
Rain, then torrential rain.
Some quarter sized hail mixed in.
Heavy rain in the sun.
Fair and blue sky.
In a 30–40 minute period.
We’ve had several inches of rain in the last 24 hrs. Now it’s clear and in the 40’s.
It was very warm and humid today and overcast. It’s in the mid 70’s right now 10:30pm EST.
The rain is back. Which has cooled things down, but if we get a hot one tomorrow, it will be steamy on Christmas Day. Is anyone going to be experiencing a white Christmas?
We’re forecast for rain and snow showers through tomorrow. We shall see if any sticks.
For as long as I have been around, between the discovery of rocks and dirt, there has Never been thunderstorms on Dec.23–24. Bad thunderstorms. Now full moon, very faint stars, and scudding clouds. It’s warm. What global warming?
@Earthbound_Misfit Parts of the US got a lot of snow. I’m assuming neighboring Canada has quite a bit too in some areas. Our Jelly Judi is covered in a thick coat of it. If you are Facebook friends with me her house is my cover photo right now. Winter wonderland.
Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
The A/C was running
‘Cause we live in the South
from a meme I read yesterday, and it is so true
^^Lol. I’ll copy that thank you.
@JL I did see @Judi’s pictures. Very pretty. The weather seems pretty terrible in some places. I saw one of our fold was experiencing tornadoes yesterday. The news said there were a number of them in the US over the last 24-hours. Here, there’s a cyclone watch on up North.
@Earthbound_Misfit Yes, we had some tornados. It’s odd this time of year. Several people were killed. The storm wreaked some havoc as it continued to travel east delaying airports that sort of thing. I was waiting in the cell phone parking lot today to pick up my husband (that was at 3:45pm, Dec 24 Christmas Eve day) and the board said 4 delayed and 2 cancelled flights coming from Atlanta. Atlanta is the busiest airport in the world. Literally, the busiest in the world. The most flights of any other airport in the world daily. Jets coming out of there to my local airport are all large domestic flights, a lot of passengers, and usually packed full. The flights I saw delayed were just for the time span, more or less, that I was there waiting. Not great for Christmas. :(. Hopefully, everyone made it where they were going today.
First snow of the year.
Under an inch, but well below zero.
What a roller coaster. A week ago it was 60+ F and since then there’s been enough rain that flooding is the worst it’s been since the near all-time-peak in the spring in the spring of 1993.
Unprecedented. Always before reaching flood stage has been a slow, agonizing, weeks-long process. Many deaths, most from people driving into flood waters because they reason, “How bad can it be?”
Deadly bad.
@ibstubro Quit hogging the El Nino! lol
Dry here, partly cloudy to sunny and cold.
In the high 20’s to low 30’s at night, hard freezes, but no rain for the last 4–5 days, maybe a light shower today and snow flurries next week but the month is not looking promising for any heavy precip for us westerners.
½1/16 Partly cloudy to sunny, high today 38 degrees F, windy, gusts up to 40 mph.
But I’m looking at the large storm over the eastern half of the US.
Partly sunny/cloudy and moderate, balmy. In the 50’s with another storm coming tomorrow.
The weather, like the climate, is changing.
⅓1/16 10:30 PM MST…
Yesterday the temp was in the 50’s (F); tonight we are experiencing temperature of 25°F, wind from SE 13 mph, humidity87%, dew point 22°F, barometric pressure 29.89” and falling. We are currently under a winter storm warning for the next 38 hours! There is a conservative forecast of 6–18 inches of snow in the next 48 hours.
It is disgustingly hot and sticky. 36°C and 62% humidity. It apparently feels like 39 according to the Weatherzone site, and I have to agree.
The other day was 36°C and 84% humidity. Horrible.
Sunny and cold and breezy here this morning after a torrential rainstorm all weekend.
Brisk is the word.
Snow flurries, barely double digits, and windy.
The kind of weather where forced hot air heat is a joke.
The forced cold air is just fighting back.
4–16-16: After a week of warm, sunny spring weather (70’s F, lower 20’s C), we awoke to a winter storm warning extending through tomorrow night, temps hovering just below freezing. It snowed all night and is expected to continue through tomorrow night.
@Yetanotheruser Wow, late season snow.
Magnificent in the Sierra foot hills here, brilliant sunshine and going for a high of 76 – 81 the next few days then cooling and more spring showers by weeks end.
It is sunny outside.
I hate it.
@Coloma Late, but not all that rare. April is Colorado’s second snowiest month, on average.
It’s cold and getting dark. The sky is mostly clear but there are a few dark grey clouds bringing rain showers.
Ha! I’ve often thought about this question!
Right now it’s undressable weather. High over 80 during the day, low around 50 at night. Very dry – I mowed the grass dirt yesterday and that was miserable, as we’re also having steady wind.
Where’s the cool Spring showers?? I will have no Morel mushrooms this year.
10:00 am 4–17-16—12” and counting, will probably continue snowing through the night. Temps still right around freezing. Forecast for the week will be dry, breezy, highs in 60’s (F).
Warm and brilliantly sunny @8:47 a.m. here. I just came in from porch sitting with my coffee and am wearing a flimsy little indian sundress. @Yetanotheruser A white spring for you!
@ibstubro Same here, my allergies are killing me, something going on as I have been fine for about a week again. Ugh!
I wish people had written the date on their answers.
@JLeslie My post above is for today 4–17. :-)
@JLeslie
Did you know that any post over 3 months old will have a date on it, and anyone less than a week old will have either the number of days, hours, minutes, or seconds since it was posted?
^^No. I probably need to switch out of the mobile mode.
You might not have to switch modes.
If the mobile mode has a cursor, hover it to the right of the “Flag as…” button at the bottom of an answer.
If you look at your own answer, place the “cursor” to the right of the “Edit your response” link there.
This should reveal a ¶ character.
If you place the “cursor” over that character, you should get a popup that says “Permalink for this response (elapsed time since response)”.
E.g., if I place my cursor over the ¶ in your answer, I get one stating, “Permalink for this response (2 hours ago)”.
This answer was posted on December 30th, 2015.
“If you look at your own answer, place the ‘cursor’ to the right of the ‘Edit your response’ link there.”
The above applies if the edit time for your answer hasn’t expired.
There is no “flag as” on my mobile screen. I have to switch to desktop.
Do you get a ¶ character by placing the cursor to the right of the rightmost link at the bottom of an answer?
E.g., if the rightmost link that you see at the bottom of an answer is “Great Answer” and you place the cursor to the right of that link, do you get the ¶ character?
No. I don’t have a cursor to move on answers already written. Not when on my iPhone when in mobile mode.
Raining. Not hard, but constant.
Nothing like areas around Houston which have had +20” over the past 24 hrs.
4–19 8:48 a.m.
Damn hot already, just shed my sweat jacket down to a tank top while turning out the horses a few minutes ago. Going for 80 something today, hot in the sun already!
Monday 4–18-16 11:00 am MST
32° F (O° C), 14” of snow over the past 36 hours, more rain expected by Wednesday.
Tuesday, 7;30 am, Midwest US
Cooler with a soft, pattering rain all night. Exactly what we need. It’s been too warm, too early and terribly dry. Really messed with the mushroom season.
Tues. 4–19, partly cloudy, feels rather humid and going for 81 today with a big drop off by Thurs. A high of 66–72 and some heavy rain showers for Thurs night, Fri. and possibly Sat.
I am NOT ready for the summer heat yet, actually at all.
@Yetanotheruser You guys are getting pummeled with snow and friends in Texas are drowning. They said peoples livestock are swimming around in places. :-/ Crazy!
Woke up this morning to pre-dawn drizzle-flurries; fortunately, pavements were warm enough to melt any snow, and precipitation stopped about 7:30 am. Now, four hours later, snow is still melting (remember, we had in excess of 14”), streets are dry, and sun is shining. Temps are around 44° F, should stay above frost tonight. More precipitation in forecast for the next few days.
Stevie Ray had it right! It’s rainin’ down in Texas!
4/19 2:12pm EDT. The weather is fabulous! Has been for days. 77degrees F and mostly sunny. Slight breeze.
Every answer above this one, was posted on October 12, 2015.
Every answer including it down to this one, was posted on October 13th.
It’s a bit chilly. It’s about 16° Celsius. Winter is finally creeping towards us. It’s been unseasonably warm. It should get to close to 30° again today.
@Coloma
Actually, I’m just trying to provide some chronological info for those whom might be interested.
If I was going to live in a weather past, one of them would be 2004–2005, when we got about 37” of rain.
Low in the 40’s (F) last night. High around 80° this weekend.
Rain. No, sun. No…yeah, sun again, but looks like rain over there.
“Make sure you have a jacket!” weather.
4–22-2016 High in the 70’s (F), clear, sunny, no precipitation. Huge contrast to four days ago!
4–22 7:43 a.m. Cloudy, breezy, cool, with light showers and T-Storms forthcoming.
Mild, clear and breezy. Headed to 80° today, but the evenings are still cool.
One week ago it was clear, sunny and dry, highs in upper 70’s F.
Today it’s raining /snowing combo, and it’s not expected to get out of the 30’s.
Amaqzing out right now @ 6:28 pm in the CA. hills. Hovering around 70, light breeze, and I was just out walking around the acres of lawns here by the big pond on the property I am house sitting this week and it is sublime. The Maples and Weeping Willow trees are rustling in the breeze, the reeds around the pond are blowing and the Bullfrogs are splashing everywhere. haha
Cool and a light, steady rain all morning. It’s rained off and on for a couple days, but no accumulation. My birdbath was over ½ full when it started, and it’s still not topped off.
We really need the moisture in the ground.
I’m lying in bed on Sunday morning and I can hear light rain hitting the trees outside. Such a lovely sound.
May 1, 2016 @ about 1 PM.
Warm and WAY too dry.
May 1, 4:22pm EDT. 84F, but I’m sitting under cover, open air restaurant on the intracoastal, nice breeze. Feels more like high 70’s. It’s gorgeous out. We just drive down along the shore from the Flagler house on Palm Beach. Lovely property. Very interesting history. The ocean was three shades of blue.
@JLeslie Sounds sublime, can I come visit? haha
3:53 pm PDT here in CA. 81 degrees, sunny, some thunderheads over the mountains, maybe a T-storm later. A light breeze and very pleasant.
I just got back from a full body massage and am lying on my bed relaxing with my gold curtains blowin’ in the breeze.
@Coloma I would love you to come visit. As soon as I have my own place my house is open to you any time. Although, it looks like I will be living three hours north of the spot I just described.
39•F, finally stopped snowing a couple hours ago. Looks like sun all week long, highs in the 80’s by Friday.
The largest hail I’ve seen in my life, today. Random, but pieces ½ to silver dollar sized. Thrashing wind and driving rain. I’m not timid of storms.
We had a storm about dusk that scared me.
@ibstubro Wow..take cover. I was once in a place fying over Utah in a massive T-storm and the hail sounded like machine gun fore. I was under my little blanket praying, and I don;t pray. lol
’
Super warm and sunny here, hit about 83 today. Still shorts and tank top weather at 8pm. I have the ceiling fans and another fan going. Going to be warm all week with a few clouds now and then.
Edit” I was once in a plane..
@Coloma Frying in place! LOL!
05122016 Sunny and warm, temps have just hit the 50°F mark, should be in the 70’s by the time the day is over.
@Yetanotheruser LOL
9:30 am and already very warm here. I was just down doing the morning horsey stuff, turn outs, poop scooping in a skimpy short nighty with jammy pants and I was swaeting. haha Going for 85 or so today, already about 70 something.
Getting colder. Winter weather, by Queensland standards, arrived on Wednesday afternoon. Finally.
80° during the day, finally.
Bleh.
And it’s a wet heat. Like you can see the grass grow.
Ugh…major heat wave through this weekend, mid to upper 90’s and possibly well over 100 by Sat. Misery. I am painting and doing a renovation project and it is going to suck. haha
05312016 66° F, high expected to be around 70°. 60% chance of rain. It’s been a cool wet spring for the region.
This weekend is AMAZING! I moved into my new place yesterday and it is a lovely 78 degrees right now. I was actually cold last night and got up to get another blanket for my bed that just had a sheet and light throw blanket. Going to stay mild for another week or so at least. yay!
Weeks of hot and dry broken by two torrential downpours in less than 12 hours.
8:30 AM MDT, 72° F (22° C) sunny, warm, no rain in sight, temp will approach 100° F (37° C) this afternoon. Getting outside chores done early today.
Tues. 6–21 now. Going for 95ish today, still comfortable at 10:22 a.m. with a light breeze. Probably fire up the Ac later though.
Numerous torrential downpours and wind over the course of 2 days, with temperatures in the mid 70’s to 100°.
Acres and acres of some of the country’s best corn crop have been blown down, and will be unharvestable. The uninitiated think the corn will stand back up, like grass (I did until a couple years ago). It will not. Sad.
It’s raining heavily. I can hear the rain on the metal roof.
I wish it was raining here! Pfft…you guys are so lucky!
Baking HOT here, a slight cooling to about 88–90 the next few days then soiking back well over 100. 104–108 is predicted by Sunday. Help me.
It was at or near 100° here today, after two days of rain dumps.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a break with a high in the upper 80’s, but maybe more rain so I mowed the yard in the heat and humidity.
(^^Almost six months later)
Woke up to 13°F (feels like -2°F),1–2” of snow. High 18°F, low 1°F, UV Index 0 of 10
Hard freeze here no snow, but down to 28 degrees with rain coming tomorrow. A warm system so temps will go up.
It’s 21°c at the moment, but it will get into the high 30s as the day progresses. We’ve had major storms every day this week. A couple of days ago, two American tourists camped on the summit of Mt Warning. They camped under a tree that was hit by lightning during the night. Tragically the man was killed. Very sad.
We can get really ferocious storms with lots of fork lightning.
