Is this an example of positive police interaction (see link in details)

Asked by Strauss (23835points) October 29th, 2015

I think it was this past Tuesday (10/27/15) that a DC police officer asked a group of teens to disperse. One of the teens started playing a song and danced to it. The officer then challenged the teen to a dance…if the officer won, the teens would move on, if the teen won, they could stay. Here is the result.

I think this incident is an example of positive community engagement by police, especially in light of recent negative incidents.

Very cool.
The officer defused the situation through humor.
Those kids probably give her a shout-out now when they see her on the street. A throw-back to the days when officers had a rapport with the people in their community and could count on community support if their adversary was in the wrong.

Officer making the most of the opportunities.

I agree. And that is a better story than this one, only because yours is more likely a knee-jerk (no pun intended) reaction. None-the-less, the same point is being made: most police officers just want trust from their community. Best interests when it comes to safety is the common goal.

@Pied_Pfeffer Great video. Let us hope this type of behavior can “go viral”.
