It’s a Western song, but with a Asian-sounding intro to it. Asian-sounding intro sounds like this:

AAAAGGEEG
EEDDBBA

Please provide more details. Such as:
About when was the song released?

‘Western’ music has many genres; is this song Rock, Pop, Dance, Country, Hip-Hop, R&B, Electronica, Punk, Metal, etc.?

when you say it sounds like “AAAAGGEEG EEDDBBA” is that a vocal you’re describing? If so, is it a male or female voice? What language do you think they’re singing in?

What other instruments do you hear in the song: guitar, piano, horns, strings, etc.?

Where have you heard this song?

“AAAAGGEEG EEDDBBA” are musical notes. It’s not sung at all.

I hear this song on the radio or in the stadium sometimes.

I think the song was released 70s-90s, but not sure. Doesn’t sound like it’s from before 1970s.

Oh, well I don’t have perfect pitch to be able to hear the notes in my head from seeing the letters. So, is AAAA four individual notes, or one note played for the count of four? What instrument is playing that melody? Are there any vocals later in the song?

The ‘70s-‘90s is far too large a time frame in the music industry. Can you narrow it down to a genre?

When you say you hear it in stadiums, do you mean at sporting events? Do you hear it more for any particular sport? How long ago was the last time you heard it? If you heard it recently, perhaps you can reference the event and try to find a video of it, then you can share the link and let us know at what time in the video the song is played.

AAAA is the note “A” played four times. I don’t know the instrument playing that melody, but it sounds like piano or xylophone or the like. It might be a stringed instrument. Almost certain it is not a woodwind or brass.

I don’t know the genre.

By stadiums, I mean sports stadiums, arenas, the like.

I don’t know any more about the song, I’m afraid.

You might have some luck by “tapping it out” and searching at this site.

Sounds like you’re thinking of the Oriental Riff originally from The Grand Chinese Spectacle of Aladdin or The Wonderful Lamp, in 1847

The song you’re thinking of might be
Kung Fu Fighting
or
Turning Japanese

or less likely:
Rush’s A Passage to Bangkok
Bowie’s China Girl

@Seek Yes, it was the Oriental Riff. Thanks.

Can you find one with a gong? The version I was thinking of had a gong and none of the versions I could find featured a gong.

Hmm. Following up a few leads in the links @Seek provided, there are some interesting chronicles of the use of the Oriental riff, including this one at Metafilter and this NPR story.

I’m surprised to hear people compare it to the riff in “Young Folks”, which I don’t think is an example of the riff, but I can sort of hear it in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles song – and I think that is a satirical reference they would make.
