What film is this from? A scene about a guy not paying another guy $20 and the lender being advised that $20 is a small price not to have to deal with the borrower ever again?

I thought it was Scorcese’s Mean Streets, but I can’t find the scene.

I’m not familiar with the film.
I do know that making a “loan” is the quickest, easiest way to get rid of a nuisance person. If you want to end a one-sided friendship or be done with a needy, parasitic relative, loan the person some money (the amount doesn’t need to be large). Then, every time you encounter the individual, ask for your money back. The person will go to great lengths to avoid any further contact with you – no more desperate phone calls at 2:00 am; no long stories about being unable to afford groceries and how a $25 “loan” from you will save his/her life; he/she running out the back door, at any event, the moment you arrive.
I think it’s A Bronx Tale
@Lightlyseared If I recall, “A Bronx Tale” stars Robert DeNiro, playing an honest, hard-working guy who tries to shield his son from the lure of crime. Very good movie.
@Love_my_doggie which was why he told his son that $20 was small price to pay to have them out of his life
