Are you going to have to travel through your home changing time on clocks, or do your clocks change themselves without you even having to worry?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) October 31st, 2015

It used to be one had to remember all of the time keeping pieces, clock, watches, ovens, VCR, etc. and change the time. But now that many gadgets have digital clocks that automatically compensate for DST and the end of it, are you going to have to remember to change any clocks, or time devices, or it will happen as if by magic come morning and you did not have to remember to do anything?

Microwave will need to be changed and that is about it. Our stove is from the 70’s and doesn’t have a clock. Computers and iPads and phones will take care of it on their own. Everyone just uses their phone as the alarm clock now.

Some will change themselves. Most won’t.

I just stick with the same time all year, and to hell with people who expect me there by the time on their clock. See why

Because of my pact with Satan from 1253 CE, all my clocks set themselves back magically.

My two major timekeeping devices are iPhone and DIRECTV DVR. They take care if it automatically. Nice.

We don’t really use the microwave for telling time so it’s incorrect all year long but it doesn’t matter.

For some weird reason we frequently have power outages lasting just a few seconds. The tv resets to correct time automatically but the microwave never did so we just stopped bothering with it altogether. As long as it times the food accurately, that’s all I care about.

I have to change three clocks, and I just realized I need to turn off my phone and turn it on again, because it did not switch on its’ own.

Two change automatically. All the rest… me.

I’ve got several clocks that need to be changed. I don’t wear a watch so I like all the clocks to tell the right time. The only one that changed was my phone

Yes, computer resets itself of course but, just changed my bedroom alarm clock, microwave, stove clock and will change the clock in my car next time I go out.

It’s all just too confusing. And it happened a week before Hallowe’en this year in the UK. I don’t know why that made it worse, but it did. Some went on their own, some needed winding back. Some that looked very much as though they should be well capable of updating themselves without mechanical intervention just stayed stuck in British Summer Time. That’s optimistic. It took two effing days to sort out, we now have jet-lag without the benefit of a joyous holiday break to have brought that on. I arsk yer. Now we have Greenwich Mean Time for six months, which basically means we are in sync with animal life and the planet. Come the end of March, which will be too bleddy soon in my opinion, we shall have to traipse the house, re-charge the Not-So-Smart-Phones that won’t change on their own and go through another bout of unwanted biorhythm muddle.
What was the question? still wondering what time of day it is. It appears to be dark outside. Will you please shut up? I’m trying to sleep until Spring…

@JLeslie *_[...I just realized I need to turn off my phone and turn it on again, because it did not switch on its’ own.]
I discovered one of my phones was not smart enough to update itself on the fly, it had to be rebooted; that was OK, I felt like I cheated it when I got another 45 min of sleep.

All of the clocks have been changed except the 2 in the garage that require ladders. Oh well, in the immortal words of Reggie (from the city) “Always put off til tomorrow what you can do today”

I still haven’t changed my clocks that don’t automatically do it. It’s 9:10pm.

Some do, some don’t. Actually, I rather enjoy the time-changing ritual two times a year. It allows, or rather, forces me to sync all my clocks.
