Do you think living in small towns is much safer from ISIS than big cities?

Asked by Aster (20028points) November 14th, 2015

I plan on moving to a small town from this one within a couple of years. I already feel safe where I am, though, due to it being ten miles from a small city of 100K and way out in the middle of nowhere. However, my daughter wants me super close to her for her convenience. Her town to which I’m moving is fifteen miles away. Just how safe from ISIS do you think small towns are ?

There are over 7 billion people in the world. The statistical likelihood that you will be a victim of an ISIS attack is so low that it doesn’t really merit consideration, unless you’re considering moving to Syria.

@Seek thank you. I never thought of it like that.

Got to agree with @Seek , plus ISIS wants mass victims so in a way you’re right, why kill ten at the local diner when, when hundreds if not that thousands at an event gets the fear out there so much faster.

I’d be more worried about life-long locals with guns than I would be about ISIS.

@Seek is absolutely correct. You’re at more risk of shark attack than ISIS. This is not to say that ISIS is “no threat”, because clearly they are. But until such attacks become commonplace in the USA they should not be a part of your calculus.
