What is with these old accounts, hacking?

Some of you know already that I follow the allowed limit of jellies.
Some were gone long before I arrived. I am following some because that links me quickly to cool old questions. Some I just like the avatars so much I can’t bring myself to dump them. Really, my profile page is so pretty. Sometimes I have to weed through though, to follow new jellies. One of the things I do is look at how long the account has been inactive.
I can understand someone checking in frequently for four years and not actively being involved, but it seems to be something I see frequently.
Is someone checking into other accounts? If so, why would they do that?
Is there someone here who is responsible for over two dozen accounts, leaving some dormant a long time, but checking in anyway? Weird. I just wonder.

Don’t forget that we have a private messaging system on Fluther. Sometimes, jellies get fed up with the site itself, but they have a person or two who they are in contact with only on Fluther and nowhere else. For those people, it makes sense to log in to PM, but to ignore the questions and other activity.
The other thing is that it’s possible to hide one’s responses, so it may look like someone has not responded to anything in 4 years, but they may just be hiding the later interactions from people who look over their profile.
Someone with multiple accounts might check all the accounts, but be active on 1 or 2. I know at least one jelly that openly admits to 3 accounts.
I asked the mods to open my jonsblond account after Gail passed away so I could look at my correspondence with her. I’m not using that account for any other reason. I haven’t even logged in yet, but I want it open so I can take a look when I’m ready
I didn’t realize you only held one account at a time, @dammitjanetfromvegas.
I think you should retain the option of returning to @jonsblond. It just seems so right.
