Why jellyfish?
An undefinable glob of aimless meaningless goo with painful stinging nettles. Is that REALLY the way we prefer to view the collective

Are you suggesting that if we don’t prefer it, there’s something to be done about it? or why ask?
I don’t think all jellyfish sting.
At this point, we are what we are. Jelly and proud of it! Jellies, united and proud LOL.
You wanted maybe giant squids? (I think I’m flunkering.)
Sponge-bob would love this site.
So the price of immortality is to exist as a jellyfish. There is a priest (or was) who fervently believed that “God has a wonderful sense of humor”...
Well, he did make the platypus and George W. Bush.
Of course he also made herpes and ass cancer, so we’ll call it even.
Team mascots are rarely benign, though I did live in a town where one of the public high schools fielded the ferocious (wait for it ) BENSON BUNNIES. I remember the school colors were green & white, but I can’t recall a single piece of merch with a fearsome rampaging bunny. The prep school had a blue jay for its mascot. Jays are at least obnoxious.
Did my links come up on my computer only? Jellies are far from benign. Am I invisible?
@Seek George Bush and Ass Cancer; you are being redundant.
Jellyfish are colonial organisms. What looks like a single organism is actually a collection of individual organisms (zooids), each of which makes its specialized contribution to the functioning of the colony. There’s no central nervous system, but they have something like a neural communication net that extends through the colony.
Seems like a pretty apt metaphor to me.
An undefinable glob of aimless meaningless goo with painful stinging nettles.
Seriously? That was as good of an explanation or description of this lagoon as I could have come up with, at least respectfully anyhow.
@thorninmud “something like a neural communication” but a conglomeration of individuals composing an aimless brainless glob immersed in a crowd of other such collections, drifting with the currents. Fans of Jimmy Buffet?
